Re: cd rom not working
Let’s determine if your CD-ROM drive or your Operating System Software ( ie...Windows XP) is the problem. You will need a bootable CD, you can use your “Dell Resource” CD or any other bootable CD disk. Power on the laptop and tap the F12 key to get to the “Boot Selection Menu”. Insert the DELL “Resource CD” into the CD-ROM drive. Select “Boot from CD/DVD drive” from the selection menu. If the laptop boots from the CD drive then you Operating System Software is the problem. If the laptop won’t boot from CD then your CD-ROM is defective and needs to be replaced.

First check CD (bad, scratch) Change it... if not OK then then Check Software (like media player, VLC player) re-install it if not OK then... Then check Cable of cd rom (loos connection) in not OK then bring any friend's or neighbor's CD ROM for few minutes and replace... if other CDROM working ok then problem in your CD ROM open cd rom and Check Lance (head) of CD rom... mostly lance not working in these cases.
should i understand that your cd rom don't work? it's not important what operating system you have...if your cd rom don;t work...go on official site....and try to find FIRMWARE soft...if our system is xp or vista or 7 or linux... cd rom unit should work (no need to configured).you have another problem.
Hi!This is not a big problem...All you have do is take a pin, needle or something and just insert it into the small hole near your cd-rom drive..try this repeatedly while pressing the eject button..If it doesn't work you will have to unscrew the two screws on the right of your keyboard..doing this will give you the access to the cd tray and you can remove the cd and put it back together..
you can get the disc out by inserting a pin in the small hole on the cd draw, but when this happens it means the laser is failing to read the disc and the cdrom is failing, unfortunately the cdrom cannot be changed in the acer notebooks.
