How to Use the Bluetooth in the Gateway Laptop
ou may have bought a new Bluetooth-capable device like a Bluetooth mobile phone, and may want to load some ringtones or media files that you have stored on your Gateway laptop. This might be the first time you are ever attempting to communicate with a Bluetooth device using your laptop. Normally, Bluetooth has to be enabled on both the devices attempting to communicate. It is no good if Bluetooth is enabled on only one of the devices. All attempts at communicating via Bluetooth will fail. However, if Bluetooth is enabled on both the devices, bringing the two in close proximity is enough for the devices to detect each other. While this is what should happen and it happens most of the time, sometimes the devices need a helping hand. Here's where you come in.
Instructions
1Enable Bluetooth on the mobile phone. This procedure is dependent on the make and model of the mobile phone. You need to see the user manual accompanying your mobile phone to see how to enable Bluetooth.
2Turn on your Gateway Laptop. Check the area next to the clock in the System Tray. There should be an icon with a stylized "B" on a blue background. This is the Bluetooth icon. Double-click on this icon and select "Enable."
3Go to Control Panel. Locate "Bluetooth Configuration" and double-click on it. A window should pop up.
4Select the Accessibility tab. Check the option "Let other Bluetooth devices discover this computer." A check mark should appear against this entry.
5Select the Local Services tab. Startup type for all services should be set to "Auto."Select "OK" and click. Wait for a few seconds. Your laptop should have Bluetooth enabled by now.
Tips & Warnings
If your laptop does not detect the mobile phone even now, turn off the phone and turn it on again while keeping it close to the laptop.
