I donwloaded the windows vista drivers published in the Genius web page, but they are for Windows Vista 32 bits. Does anyone know what should we do in order to install this scanner in Windows Vista 64 bits?

How to Install Scanner ColorPage HR8 Geniuns 64-bit Windows 8.1
First:
Getting Driver Genius for Windows Vista
http://download.geniusnet.com/2007/Scanner/HR8_V.zip
Microsoft reports no drivers from the manufacturer, to try luck with the driver of windows Vista, but does not explain how to make it work.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-hardware/drivers-for-genius-colorpage-hr8-scanner/3026b412-09db-48de-8665-6d1dda37b11d
After you download the driver, you have to run the "setup.exe" in support "Windows Vista" mode.
But before you do read the following explanation because you have to do something else before I install it, otherwise it does not work.
As I said, after trying I did not recognize the driver, I tried to take the driver manually
but windows saying that the driver was not digitally signed and you can't install if driver is not signed.
I Search the web such as disable that control and found a step in the url:
http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
After following the steps I could install the scanner driver and HR8 works correctly in Windows 8.1
LAST:
Now you can run the setup.exe in compatibility mode with Windows Vista, at the end makes restart the computer,
Now you got the scanner Genius ColorPage HR8 running on Windows 8.1
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Canon supports this scanner under Vista. Check if the Windows generic TWAIN scanner driver will work. The Canon software won't work. If the generic driver can be installed, then you should be able to acquire scans in Paint (File > Import from Scanner or Camera), Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) (some versions of Vista) or Windows Photo Gallery (IIRC it works like Paint).
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (Canon wants you to upgrade. I have a different scanner that isn't officially supported past XP and the generic driver works fine. Unfortunately, you can't just use the XP driver in the compatibility mode due to the lack of signed drivers that are required in the 64-bit OS)
My Canon PIXMA MP500, purchased in mid-2006, came with the (then) ScanSoft OmniPage SE2 software on a CD. The PC had WinXP Installed. I had no use for the ScanSoft it so I made no effort to install it. Fast Forward: Two PC crashes later, July 2009. Using Win Vista Home Premium LOST, important WinWord document file, only a hard copy available. I tried to recover, scanning the "Xerox" copy. The SE Version of OmniPage was very complicated but I succeeded in producing a replacement *.doc file.
It appears that newer editions of WinVista contain the right printer drivers for this Canon Model.
There are two common ways to software-connect scanners to windows:
1) The TWAIN driver interface 2) The WIA (Windows image acquisition) driver interface
=========================================== WIA is a driver interface native to Windows: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Image_Acquisition
TWAIN is a driver interface specific to each scanner ===========================================
Most new scanners should support both driver interfaces !
TWAIN is preferable, if you can find it, because it is tightly coupled to the scanner's hardware design, and therefore offers more functionality, which is hardware specific.
WIA, on the other hand, is more generic. It will work with many different scanners, but with reduced functionality, especially in the tools and setting available within the scanner control window that pops up every time you try to scan a document from within an application.
If you cannot find TWAIN, you may have to settle for WIA. (if it will run with your hardware) =====
This biggest problem, of course, is VISTA itself, and it comes in two flavors, depending on your computer CPU: 64-bit and 32 bit.
64-Bit Vista drivers are the hardest to find. 32-Bit Vista is a DOG, because the software is too bloated to run on a 32 bit machine.
Fancy colors and GUI not withstanding, 100% of the added "new functionality" within Vista is for the benefit of Microsoft and the scumbags running Hollywood. Vista hi-jacks your expensive hardware resources and slows down "YOUR" machine at "YOUR" expense to promote Microsoft's insestuous relationship with the Sony movie studios and the RIAA.
I strongly recommend to all my clients to stick with XP for now, and avoid Vista like the plague.
driver para o windows vista 32 bits
I have exactly the same problem in my computer: Vista 64 bits x scanner
