My toshiba laptop keeps freezing. we just got a new battery for it. This has never happened to it. Anytime i try and do something it freezes up and says its not responding. But when i try and hit, ctrl + alt + del buttons nothing happens. If i wait nothing happens i have to just end up turning it off by pressing down the button. I have had to do this around 9 times today. Also everytime i try and watch a video or listen to music it stops and either skips around or stops and says not responding. Please Help I have homework due at midnight tonight so a quick answer would be greatly appreciated

Hello,

WOW!!! This could be from many things, too many to sort through in this form. Reboot your pc and enter the BIOS setting. Go to the exit screen to select ALL DEFAULT SETTINGS. Save and exit. As the pc starts to reboot, press F10 (yours may be F5 or F8) to enter boot menu, select "Last known good start (boot)" If your system encounters the same problems, you may need to reinstall your os/apps from your recovery sector.

Please post your results and we will continue if needed.

Good Luck

Toshiba M55-S139 Laptop randomly freezes without warning.

you have a diry fan try cleaning the fan motor and spray a slight amount of wd 40 on the cooling fan and it should take care of your problem, if not go buy a usb driven laptop fan and try that, it is heating up and is the fan for the cpu or the memory stick getting hot. the fan costs 15 dollars so it's worth it to make the computer work and it will keep it cooler anyway.

My Toshiba satellite keeps freezing at anytime the model is a m45-s269 what do i need to do to fix this problem?

Well freezing is a common issue..... there are typically only a few things that could cause freezing... the easiest to diagnose is a malware infection.... try downloading "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" and running a scan... let it remove anything it finds.... if it doesn't find anything, then the next thing to look at it the memory (RAM) in the machine. You will have to find a way to run a memory test, such as Memtest86, to check if the memory has a problem. If that is also clean, then you may have a problem with the BIOS, try downloading and updating the BIOS from the manufacturer's website, if it still freezes after that then you may have a problem with the board.

Keeps freezing

starting the machine without a power cable isnt bad, especially since its a laptop and is made to run on battery power. as for the freezing, if it was dropped alot then something could have come loose meaning it mite not be covered under warrenty. i would just try to get it fixed at the place it was purchased at.

Toshiba Satellite a210 keeps freezing up.

barb, I have an A75 satellite and have similar problems. I have upgraded ram (corsair 2G) and also new hard drive now running XP pro. From what I have observed, the computer runs without problems anytime I use an external keyboard & mouse and freezes if I do not. While it doesn't freeze every time, it does it regularly, somewhere around 10% of the time. I have done the following; used it while wearing different footwear, shoes, tennis shoes, socks etc and noticed it freezes when I wear either tennis shoes or acrylic / nylon socks, it does NOT freeze when I am barefoot or have good shoes on, or when I use it on hard floors off of carpeted areas. I am certain my problem is related to static discharge and a poorly grounded front cover as the unit locks up the instant I rest my wrist on the front to start typing etc. This is a fairly well known problem with the satellite series and there are a number of fixes ranging from having the inside of the cover modified to be better grounded all the way up to replacing the cover with a newer type which apparently addresses the issue. Good luck.

My Toshiba Satellite M45-169 keeps freezing

1. The battery on the motherboard has died. Replace battery.
2. The BIOS is corrupt, reflash BIOS.

Most likely #1, very rarely #2. Pop out the battery on the motherboard and replace it, after the first time you boot up your computer, go into BIOS and set everything the way it should be for your computer (usually just time and date) and then after each sequential time you reboot, that should take care of your problem.
