the light doesnt go off...but turns frm green to orange...can there be any other reason apart frm the monitor...because the monitor is just two months old....

Chances are good it's the monitor failing and not the video card. does the light on the monitor go off or does the screen just go dark ?

I have a CQ60-615DX and when I turn it on the screem is black, so what is the problem.

When you turned it on does it seem like the laptop booted up all the way except the screen is black? Do you hear the fan running, the hard drive spinning and everything seems to be ok except the screen is black?

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barelysee the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can beany kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vgacable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves yourvideo card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you rebootwithout you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN(Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correctkey for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key willnormally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash lightand nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card isbad.

My screen is black after powering on. i have

Try an external monitor, if still nothing, power down, remove battery / /tap start button to de energise system / remove / replace ram stick (s).

If stil no go may me mobo / faulty ram(assuming there is NO posting beep) / faulty CPU.

If ext monitor works then prob with monitor itself.

Get moniotr wiring / ribbon plugs checked.

Even if i switch on my computer with moniter it doesnt show anything on moniter screen it remains black

Hello. With the computer and monitor OFF, disconnect the signal cable from the video card on your system. Next, turn on the monitor. There should be a bright green box with a pink outline of a video connector inside showing. If there isn't, and the monitor is definitely powered up, then there is an internal problem. If there IS a little green box, etc., the video card in your system is suspect.
  • 1) When turning on the monitor, do you hear the sound of the high voltage initiating?(i.e. you should hear some type of electronic noise like a vibration or crackling of static on the picture tube)
  • 2) If you do hear that high voltage kicking in, it may very well mean that the picture tube is dead and getting a replacement monitor is in your future.
  • 3) If you don't hear the high voltage, quite possibly the transformer that produces it(called a flyback transformer) is defective.
Due to the vast array of inexpensive monitors available, you probably should consider getting a new unit--the cost of a new display will rival the cost of the repair--and you get a fresh warranty to boot. If the picture tube is gone, there's no choice.---Rick

Dell d520 monitor goes blank while booting up(goes blank when starting windows). Everything boots up(I can hear the audio in the background)except its a black screen. I tried all safemode possibilities but...

just had this experience myself on a smasung monitor. I originally thought of power management but Samsung assure me it is a monitor sync problem and have yaken it away. Theyhave replaced the monitor. So conclusion is that your monitor is also in need of repair

I can turn my laptop on but the screen is black

Hi,

Do you hear a beeping sound when turning it on? Try connecting an external monitor (Desktop monitor) then press FN+F8 (Dell laptop only) and FN+F4 (HP laptop only). If it works on an external monitor, you may need to contact your computer manufacturer. check the warranty and request for an LCD monitor replacement.

If you hear a beeping sound when turning on your laptop or no power (no light). you may need to reseat the memory (RAM) or check the AC adapter (power adapter).

Let me also know the system model and computer manufacturer.

Keep me posted.

Thanks.

No picture on the screen

Hi,

I have this Panasonic PanaSync SL70 17'' monitor, I don't use it often. It is still in very great shape. However, I tried to turn it on yesterday, I got a black screen. The power LED is on and I can hear the relay is clicking when signal received. I tried to remove the signal cable, I can see it turns to power saving mode. It seems that everything works fine except no picture. I am if the transformer is gone, but not sure. I am wondering if you can help?

Black Screen

Look in the back of the Gateway where you currently have the video cable connected. If there are two connectors, (Side by Side) there than disconnect & re-connect to the other. Your display should come up. Don't be fooled. Most Pc's that have no display on their monitor is not a monitor problem but a computer problem.

Blurred monitor image to black only..

There is an issue with the screen as you say that the sound is coming from the system.I would suggest to contact the manufacturer and get the screen replaced.
