The answer is the tool that fits. You buy a set like this and you have a set that can undo all small screw fittings. They have normal screw slot, Philips, Posi drive, Hex, Torx the lot. I use mine a lot!

The Brother XL3200 does not have an option to lower the feed dogs. It came with a darning plate, part number XA3443151, to cover the feed dogs.
