It will crank and run good for a little while then it will skip a few times then cut off, we've narrowed it down to fuel. It is firing but isn't getting fuel, not the fuel pump because it seems to be pumping, what do you think it might be, sure would appreciate some help. 1991 Geo Tracker 1.6 engine Thanks, Joey

I have a 1999 dodge durango 4x4 SLT 5.9 L. It will turn but not crank. I've replaced the coil pack, spark plugs, rotor button, distrubutor cap,and sparkplug cables. I've listened to the fuel pump...

Let's get The terminology right to start out with. If the engine turns it cranks so you have a crank no start. Am I correct? Make sure you have spark. If no spark check your crank sensor located in the bell housing (transmission). Make sure you got fuel injector pulse, fuel pressure.

Try to crank my car up and and just turns.i put my foot on the gas and still want do nothing

well, you've identified a fuel problem, for sure. Next step is to see if it's getting up to engine. Turn the key on and you should hear your pump run for about 3 seconds, before it shuts off. If it runs, consider if you need a fuel filter, then have the pressure checked.
If it doesn't come on, maybe a fuse is burnt out, a bad fuel pump relay, wiring, or a bad pump. Start by checking for power at pump when cranking with a test light or voltmeter. Good luck.

Ever since i ran my isusu rodeo out of gas, it will crank but it does not want to crank. I've add additives to clean the injectors, i've changed the EGR sensor, with very little help. cld u give...

maybe it didnt run out of gas but just shut down, if it did run out it may have sucked up dirt from the botoom of the tank causing the fuelpump to lock up, what you can try to see if the pump starts again is to spray starting fluid into throtle body and cranking the engine, the engine should start and will die out after fluid is burnt but may stay running if power stays to pump and it frees up, you may have to try this a few times, if you spray and it doesnt start then you may have a diffrent problem. make sure to have someone hold pedal to floor and spray for 3sec, then release gas pedal connect hose to throtlebody and try to start. good day.

2002 trailblazer, it will crank but not fire

There are numerous things that can cause this, Bad crank position sensor, cam sensor, fuel injectors, fuel pump, ignition coils, broken cam shaft, burnt pistons, fuel filter, air filters, map sensors and MAF sensor. You would relly have to narrow this down to get true help. What have you tried and have you replaced anything. best and cheapest way to diagnose this if your not capable of trouble shooting the items listed is to have it taken to a garage that carries the test equipment to narrow down the issue other wise you will be throwing away good money on parts you don't need.

Where is the fuel filter on my 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis. My car runs for a while then dies. I let it set for a few minutes and it wilol start again.

Your fuel filter is located under the vehicle, passenger side below the seating area, front of the rear wheelwell, mounted on the frame rail in the fuel line. I hate to tell you this but I strongly doubt that this is your problem. There is a long list i could go through and you can try it but I wouldn't expect your problem to change with the fuel filter. Hate to give you the bad news. I am a Ford electronics specialist, not that it means much but what i would do when the vehicle does stop is while it is not starting check to see if you are getting fuel & spark to your sparkplugs. Once you narrow down what's not working when it does cut off then you can work from there. It could be a fuel related problem. I have seen on MANY occasions the fuel pump relay getting hot and just stop working until it cools down. If your not getting fire to the spark plugs, then you're in a whole diiferent area. There are alot of parts in an ignition system but just take it one step at a time until you can narrow down the area of the problem. Is your "check engine" light coming on? If it is on or has flashed at any time you may have a stored code in there which may help you as well. wish I had better news but at least I think I led you in the direction I would take and that's what I do for a living. good luck.

Quit running

In short your engine will require 3 things to fire, spark/timing of, fuel, and compression. Check the easiest 1st, pull a plug wire and check for spark, if there is spark crank the engine over a few times more then remove a spark plug, if there is fuel on plugs you have gas flow and injector pulse, now check compression if there is good compression you should have good timing. Please check the above and let me know waht you do / do not have, from there we can narrow it down and get you an answer. Could very well be a crank sensor or such, until you narrow it down, the possibilities are endless.

Please let me know and I'll try to help,
Tom
