Acer 230/280 notebook permanently hidden files?

Hi, I'm not a Notebook/Xp wiz, so excuse me if the problem seems trivial or insignificant in any way.. It's frustrating when you know it's meant to work one way and does'nt!

I cant get my windows to stay on the option of "show hidden files" in my view settings in windows. I go into the settings, put the dot in the circle, click apply, and exit but hidden files, which ordinarily in this state show as faded icons are still not there, I go back into the settings and the dot is magically in the "do not show hidden files"!

I have just done a complete format and reinstall of windows XP home edition. It is now the second time I am going to attempt a format and reinstall, i found it was when I installed my drivers from my flash drive that the problem came back into effect, before which (after the format) I could see hidden files. Somewhere between opening and installing from my flash drive the problem came back! Any Idea on this would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
ok that seems like a strange problem, do you have any kind of antivirus software? that protects the system settings to getting changed?

You can also change the settings in regedit
start->run input "regedit" enter.->
go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
DELETE the value CheckedValue in the right window. (Its type should be REG_SZ and data should be 2.)
Now create a new DWORD value called CheckedValue (same as above, except that the type is REG_DWORD). Modify the value data to 1 (0x00000001).
This should let you change the "Hidden Files and Folders" option.

get back to me if this doesent work.

Computer is charged but cant get anything on screen

I hope you have another computer by you because you need to link your Netbook to a PC or laptop via USB cable. On the PC Google :Driver Wiz and download it.
Click My Computer and locate the main drive of the Notebook,
Go to the desktop of the PC and find Downloads, locate the downloaded Driver Wiz, hold down the Ctrl botton and let mouse button and drag and drop the Driver Wiz file on to your notebook drive. Having done that while still wired to the PC Click the Wiz Icon, Install it and then Run it. Then boot up your notebook, with refreshed and updated drivers on board (no guarantees) I think this might do the trick. Good Luck and, Happy New Year. Arnie

Have a new Acer Aspire 5517, when I move the computer more than 7-10' from the router the signal goes from Execellent to poor/lost connection. 5 other computers on this Verizon Fios network run great with...

Take both excuses out of the equation. Buy a wireless N dongle off ebay (you can pick them up dirt cheap).

Router would pick up dongle using it's own software (Acer's excuse) and would not know or care the make of notebook (verizon's excuse)

I need acer aspire 5315 windows xp drivers

It seems that have formatted from Vista to XP since the driver aren't avaible for XP on Acer's website.

So I would recommend you using this tool and see it if detects your drivers and if it does download the drivers with the program:
