Everything works fine on my printer.... scanning, sending faxes, copying... but just recently, when receiving incoming fax transmittals, the phone rings... a connection occurs... then 30 seconds goes by and I receive an error print problem.... Any quick-fix solutions?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for this printer, you can get them from the HP website

Let me know how this goes and whether you need any help doing this or if you have any questions

If this doesn't work then I have a few other ideas for what it wrong.

You could also try a system restore if the drivers don't work

make sure the property settings for the fax are not on the Microsoft printer make sure it is set to the local usb printer

hello there, Try Connecting the Lexmark All-in-One directly to the phone port...but make sure that Do NOT connect any phones to the EXT port.
Make sure the Fax receive mode is set to answer the fax after 3 rings. (Press the Fax button on the operator panel and then press Options three times until ANSWER FAX WHEN is displayed. Change the settings using the - or + buttons as appropriate.)

This is an indication that you still have something on the scan glass. Most likely some white out from an original or something. You can test for this by making a copy. If the white like is present but your incoming faxes are ok then it is in the scanner. You are going to have to look at this section very closely. Pay attention to which way your documents are scanned, is face up or face down. This will tell you which side (top or bottom) the strip glass is on. Sometimes it is stuck to this glass pretty good.
Again tho if you incoming faxes are ok, and you run a copy with a thin blank line then it is in the scanner assembly.

Check your phone line by plugging in a spare telephone handset and listen for the dial tone.

Check the answer mode, you should easily be able to see it in the display when in idle mode.
The CD is not needed for the machine to perform actions not requiring a computer, e.g. sending/recieving faxes.
Also, check the phone cable connection so that it's connected to the LINE outlet, and not the EXT one. Connecting it to the wrong contact would still make the machine ring (as it detects the "call" on the line) but unable to lift the call since the modem communicates only through the LINE port.
You could troubleshoot by letting the machine be alone on the line to see if it can send and/or recieve faxes.

-You should have a number (fax number) for it in order to be able to receive incoming fax.
