I have the same problem with the Sony cyber shot U DSC U10. I have replaced the Energizer lithium batteries with new. I charged them first per the manuf’. instructions. It still turns on then the low battery indicator blinks once or twice and the unit shuts off. I also cleaned off the battery contact points. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
The same problem as what ? Postings do not follow each other consecutively, so we have no idea to which one you refer.

possible short circuit that is draining battery at a speed. get your camera tested at some good repair shop,

Yes and no... When printing the photos yourself, you can add the date via software. You can also download software that will allow you to add the date (and save it) before printing your images (http://www.avpsoft.com/products/timetophoto/).
As far as commercial printing kiosks (Walgreens, Walmart ect.) you have already found out that it isn't possible; however, I have found a local Camera Retailer (Mom and Pop shop) with some high end kiosks that read the stored date and ask if you want it included with the picture. The only thing is that it puts the date on the back of the photo, my wife would prefer it on the front.

If you want to reset DSC-W30, press Menu and go to Initialize, select it and press OK
Camera will be RESET and go to factory default settings.
