Hi. I bought a Uniden 5.8 GHz cordless phone last December as a gift for my parents. Last week, the base unit was determined by the phone company to be inoperative, rendering all the other phones dead. When a different base unit is plugged in, the phone line then works. The battery appears operational and takes a charge, and the display on the phone itself is working. The phone technician didn't know what the problem could be, so I thought I'd check with you guys. Any ideas?
Thanks for your suggestion for the service upgrade. It turns out, however, that my problem was resolved although I can't fully explain how. I was experimenting with various things, and at one point I placed a phone on the base unit, which came from a different Uniden set, not even of the same model. Of course that phone didn't work, but when I retried the original one, it worked. Although I originally did try cleaning off the connections between the phone and the base unit, I can only assume that something else was wrong with the connection, and this was corrected when I placed a different connection on it. That doesn't explain, however, why the other phones from the set went dead when the base unit phone wasn't on the cradle. So, may be it just a coincidence that the problem was resolved at that point, and it was just one of those "glitches".
Thanks for your help.

Uniden tcx805 will not hold charge and the unit gets very hot inside the base.
