HP 5150 Deskjet -- black printing abruptly stopped. Prints appear with color but no black. Switching black cartridges doesn't help. Clean print heads operation doesn't help. Switching computers (all with different versions of Mac OS), and altering WiFi to hardwire USB doesn't help. Suggestions, please?

I didn't get your question,even I am trying to give you solution. Switch on the printer, left top cover wait until carriage arrive at middle, remove mono cartridge, take out swab nozzle area with good cotton or ear buds adding with alcohol(solvent) gently in one direction,repeat three to four times & shake well and see ink coming out from nozzle area?, clean nozzle area with tissue paper put it back & check for print..

try the following
1.power on your peinter
2.while press and hold the power button ,open and close the top cover times.

printer pick the paper and print the test page and alignment pattern for black and color.
if any of the black or color alignment pattern is not print ,then u have to change the cartridge accordingly.

If the Cartridge and printer alignment is successfull and you are still not able to print in color, mostly the Color print is disabled in your pc

Click on START Button
Click on CONTROL PANEL
Open Printers and Faxes folder
Highlight the Printer icon for Deskjet
Right click on the printer icon and choose Printing Preferences
Under Printing preferences, you will find Printing mode - It must be on BLACK or GREY SCALE, Change to COLOR/ ALL
try printing.

check if the cartridge is ok. maybe the color cartridge has a ......?

Was it working and now stopped working ?? If so, could be a faulty black cartridge. Remove the color cartridge and see if the black prints. if a new black cartridge, the strip may need to be removed or remove and reinsert black cartridge.

If is an original brand? Some generic cartridges or refill ones gave that problem.

hi, remove the color cartg take a tissue paper and run it horizontaly on the nozzel, if u can notice the three colors, ur cartridge is ok, may be the contact area of the cartridge,try to clean both the surfaces, and install the exact driver for the printer which will give you the cartridge maintenence options. let me know??

ya hi, the nozzels must have got dried up and choked, put a few drops of hydrogen peraoxide on the nozzel for some time and then clean it, this will free the pores in the nozzel, be careful with the chemical, or take some proffessional assistance.. let me know
