My JVC Gr D31 EK

Hi!

You get this message because moisture got into the camera. Simply keep it for few hours in a warm and dry place (even under direct sun beams, but in this case please COVER the lens).
The moisture will slowly get out from the camera and it will work again.

Such condensation (moisture) can get into the camera when moving from cold to warm environment, exactly like people wearing glasses know it happens when they come inside a warm room from the cold outside in winter.

Good luck, and please let me know if it worked.

The camera will record as if everything is working

This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. Try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

If this response has been of any help to you, please be sure and give a positive vote for me on FixYa.com .

Unit in safeguard mode

I found the solution on another web site. You just eject the tape, and then give the camera a few sound whacks near the microphone (I tapped mine of a carpetted floor). Believe it or not this seems to work! My camera had been in "safe mode" for over a year without any success in fixing it. I tried the above method having lost all hope of ever using it again, and presto, the think came back to life! Can't say how long it will last, but at least it's out of safe mode;-)

RECORDED SOME FOOTAGE. WHILE PLAYING BACK AT HOME

Hi,

This is a common problem on JVC and Sony. Unfortunately, there is no DIY. You need to send the unit for repair. It could be due to Faulty CCD sensor or defective head or
It is caused by the loosening or loss of the rubber roller inside the tape drive mechanism.

I wish i could have a better solution.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I cant get video from my jvcGR-D31EK to my tv

check to make sure that you are using the correct cable. Unless you have connections for separate left and right audio, the cable that you should be using will likely be a 1/8" plug that has *4* sections on it, a stereo patch cable will have *3*, and may also be shorting one of the contacts.

Black display screen

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

Please wait -Condensation operation Paused

If the camera becomes damp or cold and brought into a warm atmosphere damp forms in the mechanism which would cause the tape to stick and become damaged or fouled.

leave the camera to warm up for a few hours and the fault should clear.

If not the most common reason is the dew sensor has failed and needs replacing
