sounds like the drive belt is missing a cog. With the curent price of scanners it most likely would be cheaper to replace it

on the downloads and drivers tab ==

Uninstall the software with scanner unplug from your MAC. Install the software with the scanner disconnected, then connect it b4 the first use of the software.

Gone through the issue you are facing sound pretty simple however i am not sure about the operating system you have in your computer so i would give you the link for the issue u are facing.
steps to follow to download the driver:-
open the link compatible for win 95,98,9x,me,NT,xp

copy the link in the internet exploler

it would open a web page and in the middle you would see
small option download click it and run the installation file.

Hi, yes if the scanner model is auto install by XP or your OS then it is possible. however, some features maynot be available. if you want a full install using the canon drivers + other features, you may download the driver at (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=6623). you may have to allow pop ups for the drivers page to appear. also you have to select the operating system where the scanner is intended to be installed upon. The file is a single executable (lide30win7031en.exe)5.27Mb in size. Upon completion of download, install by clicking on the downloaded exe file. Good luck and hope this works for you. Pls post again how things turn up.

the cause is that usb cable supplies power to scanner(there is no power cable) and therefore can not be much long, plug the original cable from scanner directly to USB port in your PC and it will be working correctly. If you use additonal cable to connect scanner to your pc you wil get the error code

Did you receive a driver with your printer? If not you need to have one in order to install the software for the printer, in order for it to work properly.
