I've had this happen recently. Can it be fixed, yes. However, it takes a good amount of work. Worse case senario, if you can find no one who can fix it, you would have to get another tv as this wold be a problem with the hardware of the tv.

If it turns On just for a moment; at least, and the standby/power light at its front panel comes ON; and it goes OFF withing seconds; the main board to the set is faulty. Get rid of it! I started out with the small black smoky line, went to two horizontal line, , , , I now have a 10 " line half way across the screen in two places and the rest of the line is 4-6". Contact Samsung three times on line and they responded with " we do not understand the problem, please explain. Oh yeah, TV was 2.5 years old. Never will buy Samsung again.
