I have found the most common problems with the symptom you have described, to be the SMPS PCB. Sometimes the Y Main will cause the power supply to short out and lower a voltage in that area. Your set has a two year warranty. Call 1-800-Samsung to find an authorized servicer in your area.

I had the same problem and had the TV serviced and found that the y board was blown $350 total. The repair guy explained that the board has a hot transister underneath that slowly leaked onto the board, but says that they can not get Samsung to admit to the problem. Works fine now but only have a 90 day warrenty on the parts.

This is a classic switchmode power supply, shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an Akai, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and the repair may be subsided or even free.

Really, with something under a year old MUST be covered by a merchantability cover. A unit such as this can reasonably be expected to last more than 8 months of use, even if on 24/7. In my professional opinion, you should return the unit, and demand that it be repaired, better yet replaced. This really is unacceptable. You need to contact a head office, and relate this all to them, Consumer Guarantees Act, gives you this right of redress, and the supplier must remedy NOT the manufacturer.
