"Error 2023 - USB Communication Error"
This typically indicates a communication error between the Brother machine and the computer.
1. Turn off the Brother machine, wait 15 seconds and then turn the machine back on.
2. Attempt to scan again.
- If you're able to scan, then the issue is resolved.
- If you still receive the error, go to
step 3.

9. Download and reinstall the Scanner driver, which includes the DSmobileCapture software. Click
here for instructions.
Don't reinstall using the DVD. Instead download the latest version of the software from
http://support.brother.com.
10. Attempt to scan again.
- If you're able to scan, then the issue is resolved.
- If you still receive the error, then the issue is likely caused by a software conflict. If you have another computer, try installing your machine on that computer and scanning. This will determine if there is a problem with this computer.
If after troubleshooting you are still unable to scan, contact your computer manufacturer for additional support.
