Setting Ring Volume...
You can adjust the ring volume when our fax machine is idle. You can set a ring volume or press until the ring is off.

Press to adjust the volume level. Each press of the key will sound the ringer so you will know the volume of the ringer you are selecting. When done, simply stop pushing the buttons and it will be set until you choose to adjust it again.

It sounds as though you are sending in halftones not in std resolution. i have not seen a 510 in a long time and cannot remember the layout of the buttons. i think there is a resolution button. just press it until you see standard come up on the display.

I am going to assume you are using the Auto Document Feeder for when you are copying and faxing.When you lift the scanner top (As if you are placing a single document on the scanner glass) there is a small strip of glass to the left (normally) of the main scanner glass. This is the ADF scanner location. You will find that there will be two marks on this glass at the points you get lines on copied and faxed documents. Normally this is ballpoint ink that was not completely dried when fed through the ADF or Twink (Whiteout) that was not completely dry when fed through the ADF. Using rubbing alcohol or other cleaning products of similar gender clean this mess off the glass. If it does not come off it could be actual scratches on the glass which can only be fixed by replacing the glass.

The Brother Linux scanner driver works only with a superuser by default. To use it with a normal user, you will have to make some settings.
