Canon fs300 says card has been set for erasure
Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.If that doesn't do it, try another card.
Lens cover will not close
The lens cover mechanism in these cameras is susceptible to debris and requires disassembling the camera to repair. This can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem due to the fact that the camera will need to be partially disassembled and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

Hi!
Almost sure there is nothing wrong with your battery, charger and camcorder.
The battery loose power even when doing nothing, especially when it is a NiMH type.
Please charge the battery for a couple of hours and try again to start the camcorder.
Good luck!
How do i transfer pictures
Welcome to Fixya
To download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. Just drag&drop pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files.

My canon FS300 won't turn
Hi, well having it connected to the PC, as regard to the device turning on or not, isn't that important, as it really cannot affect the operation.
Now what can affect things is a bad battery, the ONLY way to tell is to replace the battery with a brand new fresh charged one, if NOW the camera still will NOT turn on then most likely it has suffered a power supply conditioner and distribution circuit has faulted. usually a resistor and or diode burns out and goes open circuit.
This isn't really something that can be DIYed, for many reasons. The very best thing you can do to ensure a good result, at a reasonable price. Is to contact a Canon local or head office, ask them for a referral to an authorised camera repair and service center. Now when here, first ask for a "Quote" as to the repairs. You see this way you can get an idea of costings and make an informed decision as to what to do, repair or replace, you see seemingly simply problems can quickly eventuate into an uneconomic repair.
I often find in my shop, that people would rather put any serious monies, that would have been spent on repair, be, put towards a NEW unit, with a full warranty...
Where can find camcorder serial number canon FS300
Hi,
The Serial No. is usually located under the camera. It is visible without opening any flaps/cover.
If you lift the camera up ( like taking picture of the sky ) and while looking underside of the camera
The numbers are written on 3 lines with 4 digits each
eg:
0123
4567
8910
Regards,
Ron
