Well, if it stopped starting with the electric start, but would kick...and now no longer kicks....and the plugs are as black as you say...
One of 2 things are most likely your problem.
The battery is likely extremely low or dead right now.
With no load it may still read 12V, but don't go by this.
The battery itself is probably toast OR the charging circuit (alternator/rectifier/regulator) isn't working.
Put the battery on a charger overnight, and see if it starts in the morning.
It may be flooded from several start attempts, so it might be a bit of a stubborn start.
If that doesn't work, post a reply to this thread.

I tried jump starting a diesel engine with my petrol engine now my petrol engine wont turn over although the battery is good why ?

Some times the extra amperage coming from the alternator the diesel motor will burn out the electrical components of a smaller vehicle. This is why you should never jump start your lawnmowers, motorcycles, or any small engine with a full size vehicle. Check your battery, then alternator, and keep tracing it back until you find the source of the problem.

The valve may be off a bit get the valve specs and check it usually the intake valve that causes that you will have compression but it it will stay open just enough that it won't start

Husquarna petrol hedge trimmer starting problem

it could be extremely flooded with way to much fuel. in the motor.take out the sparkplug turn the ignition switch OFF and pull the starter rope...if there is a lot of fuel blowing out of the cylinder...thats your problem.....buy a new sparkplug and try starting it with no choke and full throttle with the new sparkplug fitted....see how you go.....or its warn out and has no compression to fire up the fuel.....in this case ..its time to upgrade
