I was told that the throttle plate being hung open is only way a engine could run wide open. So with breather removed looking in top of throttle body little flapper is closed till push pedal down, Is this what there refering to as throtle plate

You may have a bad IAC ( idle air control) but try eliminating any vacuum leaks and cleaning the throttle body first. Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner. Be sure to spray some into the small holes next to the throttle plate. That should help stabilize the idle. If it still has a problem, replace the IAC.

sound like throttle cable could be binding the cable clip broken or missing or throttle body linkage and plate has carbon build up.throttle body need taken off remove all plastic parts and rubber parts remove all electrical parts like idle air control valve and remove tps sensor the carburetor cleaner will destroy.clean throttle plate and throttle shift linkages spray clean real good remove all carbon build up.

idle air control is looking for base idle. throttle body base idle plate is dirty with carbon. cleaned out throttle plate with carb cleaner and tooth brush. use rags to catch black carbon.open plate.by some one hold throttle plate open with gas pedal. engine not running. after completed, start engine. run 1500 prm for a short time to clean out excess fluid. that should fix your problem..

No mention of any diagnostic trouble codes so I would remove large rubber intake tube from air
filter box to throttle body. Only remove from throttle body end lay out of the way. You willneed a can of carburetor cleaner and an old tooothbrush (not a little wire brush). Look inside throttle body and you will see the throttle plate. Reach and pull on throttle cable to open throttle plate fully. When open coat throttle plate good with carburetor cleaner, take toothbrush and scrub carbon deposits from throttle plate paying special attention to both sides. Carbon build-up in and around where throttle position sensor comes through inside of throttle body and connects to throttle plate causes throttle plate not to close completely when accelerator pedal released at idle. This can allow too much air into intake causing rough idle and also can cause Idle Air Control Motor not to be activated due to throttle plate not closing far enough for TPS to recognize throttle cable has been released. The IAC picks up and maintains engine idle until accelerator is depressed and TPS resumes engine rpm control depending on accelerator pedal pressure.
It is also possible that IAC stepper motor is going bad. Normally if this occurs check engine light will illuminate with a diagnostic trouble code for IAC P0505, P0506, or P0510.

***Note*** Some throttle bodies have a wax pellet in bottom side of chamber so careful not to let
carburetor cleaner puddle in bottom when sprayed.If cleaner is allowed to puddle and eat up the pellet you have to get another throttlebody. Pellet cannot be bought seperately. When you pull throttle cable you can stick a small rag down in there to catch excess cleaner.

You need to take the breather tube off of the throttle body and clean the throttle body and the throttle plate with carburator cleaner to remove the gumm that is causing it to stick.Be sure to do the top and bottom of the throttle borewith a clean ragg. It's all gummed up from the Ethanol Fuel that you can't but help put in it. Ethanol Fuel is bad for todays cars!!!

OK P1516 is usually have something to do with throttle body or gas pedal, My 1st choice would be the throttle body I would start by removing the air intake hose to gain access to the throttle body once that is out of your way look at the throttle plate with the key on the plate should be partly open if it's fully close or open also try to move the throttle plate DO NOT FORCE IT it should not move when the key is on if it does then you have to replace it, the next to do is to have someone step on the gas pedal while you look at the throttle plate, with the gas pedal to the floor the plate should be wide open . Now the second choice would be the gas pedal and that calls for some electrical back ground, So start with the throttle body., Good luck

The only way an engine can run Wide open is if the throttle plate is opened all the way, allowing a large volume of air in to the engine. Check the throttle plate and see if it is hung up or possibly the throttle cable is frayed and holding the throttle open. It is not the injectors, they operate on inputs from the PCM.

it has a dirty throttle body. get some carb cleaner and a tooth brush.remove air cleaner hose at the throttle body. block open throttle to wide open {engine off of course} or have someone hold it to the floor.spray cleaner into body and scub with tooth brush especially were the throttle plat touches the bore when at idle and the throttle plate itself.spray brush,spray,brush. put hose back on and start engine. you might have to give it some gas to atart it then its going to run rough for a few seconds but it will clear up.slowly lower foot from gas pedal and allow to idle.put in reverse let run in reverse for a few seconda do the same with drive.it has now began to learn what position the stepper motor should be in when throttle is not depressed.it may stumble a couple of times at sops but will soon correct itself

try getting a can of carb cleaner . removing breather and spraying gunk out of the inside of carb to free moving parts that are sticking. and also try spraying the outside moving parts of carb with penetrating oil

The throttle body may need to be cleaned. Take off the induction hose to the throttle and open the plate. Make sure the vehicle is not running. With the throttle plate wide open, soak a cloth rag with carb and choke cleaner and work the rag around the inside of the body especially where the plate's closed position is. remove the rag and spray a small amount of carb cleaner down the throat of the throttle body. replace hose and run vehicle at 1500 rpm's for a few seconds. This should fix the idle. It should be idling at about 800 rpms.
