Need a wiring diagram for my 1987 gsxr, it ran a few months ago, then i changed the ignition switch and now it wont even come on. what to do?

The RC26 has a few modifications, but nothing that should alter the wiring.

1986-1987 - VFR700F / VFR700F2 (RC26)

The "Tariff Buster"[ 700cc VFR700F was almost identical to the 750cc version, with minor changes to graphics (no 750 on the lower fairing), shorter stroke, different cams, and altered ignition timing. Otherwise the VFR700F2 was mechanically the same as the standard F, but had an upgraded rear shock and fork internals alongside square gauges.

Pit a nw key switch on it. First make sure the switch is on tight. Pushing it hard would indicate a bad grounf

There is probably something else going on - a malfunctioning MAF should not immobilize the engine, but trying to clean it is a bad idea as it is very sensitive to failure with the wrong cleaning procedure. Check the power at the starting motor solenoid with the ignition in start position - if missing, check fuses, and wiring back to the ignition switch, and the switch itself.

If the wires were hot check fuses, kill switch and saftey curcuits (clutch ,side stand neutrail switches.)

Sounds like the distributor stator/pickup is defective, this sends an erratic signal to the Ignition control module (called the TFI module) coil and that causes the timing to go wacko. The Ignition control module and the stator are mounted on and inside the distributor change them both, the distributor must come out to replace the stator. here was a recall on may of these trucks, contact a Ford dealer. Another problem is that the ignition switch comes apart, this also was recalled on many models. Below is a diagram of the distributor for your reference.

Remove battery. Check voltage should be 12v so better. If not charge. Let set a couple days. Should be still 12, if battery is bad. If still doesn't start go to soneid.

Thick wires at IGN SW .... Red(s) - supply power from the battery to the IGN switch ... Pink - ignition supply ... Orange - Accessory power ... Purple most RWD sometimes (Yellow most FWD) - Starter .. Did I miss any? It's been a while The thin wires on the IGN swich are for key sense and VATS (if applicable)

try to replace the coil and all the spark plugs also make sure that the plugs are gapped right. that info will be on the evaporation sticker onthe core support in the front of the truck under hood. I think it is 0.004 not 100% sure on that. I hope that helps
