1989 toyota camry 232000miles Runs rough at idle

It sounds to me not enough fuel getting to engine.could be a fuel pressure problem.Maybe a faulty fuel pump.or could also be a faulty idle sensor.Just a few possibilities

ck alt 12.5 iDle 13.5 1000 rpm
also run gas low and put fresh new gas gas add'
replace cap rotor wires.ck for obd codes.Let me know

Sounds as if you have a clogged or damaged freshair intake hose, which is the flex pipe connecting the air inlet at the front of the vehicle to the air cleaner. This part will run you about $80 new. (This is for the 6 cylinder model.)

Seems like this car have the same symptom wherever it is, I have this trouble as well, I did the tune up, injection cleaning, change spark plugs and spark plugs wires, change the air filter, change the engine mounting but still the same trouble :(

get a trouble code from Autozone or other store for free. It sounds like a sensor problem to me. The Idle Position sensor for example.

Possible injector failure. locate by disconnecting injectors one at a time. The one that makes no change is the questionable. Status of spark plugs need chkg also. pull the plugs an the one that looks washed is questionable good luck

Lots of times the idle air control valve gets stuck on these engines. You can try cleaning it. Remove the air intake hose from the throttle body. Start the engine and spray throttle plate cleaner through the hole in the bottom on the throttle body. This will run the cleaner through the idle air control valve. make sure to keep the RPM's at about 2000 to 2500 throughout this procedure. You may need to install a new idle air control valve if it continues to happen.
