SOURCE: Starter problems

you need to check and see if you have 12volts at the relay and if you have 12volts at the wire from the switch on the relay. if you are getting power to the wire from the switch then you may have a bad starter relay.

SOURCE: Just bought a 1985 Suzuki

yes, suzukis have a clutch saftey switch and won't start without being drepressed all the way in. time to replace the clutch cable. if u know which wires go to switch u can put a jumper between the 2 to the main harness, not to the handle.

SOURCE: recently went for a ride

Did you leave your motorcycle in gear when you turned it off? It sounds like the side stand safety switch is keeping the bike turned off. If my Suzuki is running and I pull in the clutch, with out raising the side stand, and I place the bike in gear with the side stand down, it will immediately shut off. The cycle is set up that way so you will not drive with your stand down and go out of control when you take your first left turn. If your cycle is not in neutral and your side stand is down, that would cause the condition you describe. If that is not the case start by inspecting the side stand safety switch and the clutch safety switch for proper operation.

I have a 1997 Pajero, I topped up the oil this morning and now it won't start, it's not the battery or engine, it looks like there is no power to the fuel pump, can anyone help??? Please

The adding of the oil is more than likely just a coincidence . If you don't have power at your fuel pump check to make sure your fuel pump fuse is good. Also in the trunk you should have an emergency fuel pump cut off button. ( normally on left side rearmost area behind the plastic panel ) there should be a hole in the plastic to poke your finger in to push the reset button. If those are ok then check to make sure your fuel pump relay is working. Find that, turn key all the way to on but not starting. Listen for fuel pump to turn on for a few seconds ( priming the system ) if it don't use the handle of a screw driver and tap on the relay and if it clicks and fuel pump runs then your relay is failing. Replace that with a new one.

Where is a 1989 nissan z24 4 wheel drive fuel regulator located? starter went bad, replaced it, fuel line had a leak, replaced it, fuel pump wont push fuel through it, bought a new one and now the truck...

Fuel reg. is connected to the fuel rail where the return line is connected, my thoughts are you mentioned air in your lines.. crack open fuel lines and run fuel pump to release air from lines. Pump then should prime all lines must be primed turn engine over to release air ( No Smoking) then tighten lines. fuel rail might have valve, (looks like tire valve) if so it is recommended that air is relieved at air valve

I have a 1981 Suzuki GS 550, the battery is good and the carbs have been cleaned a little over a month ago usually start the bike a few times a week. I went to start the bike today and it has been a week...

Check to make sure the battery is fully charged and that the fuses are all good. If you push the starter button and the solenoid clicks, the button is good. Take a wire and jump the two posts on the solenoid or touch the two cables together, if your starter works, then you need a new solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap on the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works you need new starter brushes. Anything else wrong with the starter and you need to replace the starter assembly , unless the manufacturer sells replacement parts so you can repair the starter. most manufacturers only sell replacement starter brushes. Leaving the fuel petcock only greatens the risk you might flood the engine with gas. It should not affect the action of the starter motor. The prime set up on the fuel petcock allows you to fill the carburetors with gas before you actually turn the engine over. In the run position the fuel petcock only supplies gasoline the carburetors when there is vacuum present in the manifolds.

Hello, I have a 1985 suzuki cavalcade, it died on the side of the road and wouldnt start, put a new battery now I have lights ect but nothing happens when I push the start button so I checked the buttton...

You say "Would not Start". Does that mean it would not crank on the starter or would crank, but not fire?
To start these bikes, The bike must be in neutral, kill switch on the right handlebar in run, sidestand up (mainly for 1987 models) press the starter (there should be a "clicking from under the seat, fuel pump priming the carbs) when the clicking stops, pull in the clutch, there is a safety switch in the clutch lever that anly allows the starter to work with it pulled in. (if it has been bypassed, then the bike will start without the clutch lever pulled in and not allow the carbs to prime, causing the starter to operate for longer duration. ALSO, the cruise control will not work (only fitted to the LX

No water flow after trying to prime

Hi First off, don't leave the machine on for a long time if you don't have any water flow. If its been setting for a long time you might have a stuck check valve in the pump. The best way to prime the pump is to put in test mode. Turn the machine off and then push and hold the 2 right buttons at the same time. While holding them down turn the machine on. Release the buttons and turn the dial counter clockwise till it stops. This will keep the machine from heating. If you push the center button the pump will activate. Open the steam knob. If you don't have your old priming pump, you can use a bulb aspirator. Remove the water tank and fill the bulb with water. Insert the bulb into the hole on top of the machine where the tank was. Push and hold the center button and squeeze the bulb to force water into the hole. Sometime it takes 2 people to prime the machine easier. If the bulb squeezes easily and water flows, you did it. If not keep trying. You may have to remove the pump and blow some air through the small end (intake side).
