Were is the fuel pump in a 04 ram 2500 diesel, and how do you know it is bad? I have a 1/2 tank of fuel and the filter resavoir is empty, and I was driving when it stalled stalled on me.

You may have either or, or maybe even both..The first fuel pump, is in the gas tank...and the second one is a fuel injection pump....You have to see if you have power at your fuel pump//in the tank..if you do, and it does not work then that one is bad, you can also bang on the tank with a Rubber Mallot, while someone is cranking it, and if it starts..you know its going bad also...8bd411c.jpgab5b38b.jpg

I have a 2001 2500 with a cummins diesal motor the problem i am haveing is when you are driving down the road it is like it looses prim and falls on its nose. When i let off pettle and push again it is...

I have a 2002 2500 that had the same thing happen, there is a common problem with this 2nd gen diesel . The lift / transfer pump that supplies fuel to the injection pump fails. When this happens the injection pump can still draw fuel past it but has no lubrication on start up and will cause your injection pump to fail. This is very costly in fact after replacing both pumps in my own the bill was pushing $3500.00. the good news is the transfer pump is relatively cheep $300 to $400. I live in northern Canada so these prices are worst case scenario. there is a test port to check your transfer pump you will need a 0-30 psi gauge. and I recommend installing a permanent one so you can monitor this pump, it is very costly not to.

good luck!

99 dodge 2500 5.9 cummins fuel pressure at 3psi

The 3 psi is caused by a failed transfer pump. The problem the loss of could be the VP44 injection pump. This pump should be run at min 7psi. I had the same fuel pressure problem. I replaced my stock transfer pump with a FASS DDRP from www.usdieselparts.com. The stock pump is over $200 to replace and will fail again, sometimes right out of the box. The DDRP will supply about 15psi to the pump and is simple to install. I hope this helps.

Trying to start 2001 dodge ram pu it cranks but will turn over

Stop cranking! It Sounds like you're nnot getting any fuel. No fuel + cranking equals a burnt out injection pump. Start by checking your lift pump pressure. This can be done at the fuel filter by removing one of the small test ports and hooking up a pressure guage. With the guage installed, bump the engine over which will cause the liftpump to kick on and run, giving you a reading. A good pump will read 10-12 psi. a bad one will read in the 3-5 range. Good Luck!

Hard cold start 96 safari

Check fuel presure.I believe its 61 to 65 psi, with little or no drop off in ten minutes.V-6 access port for fuel presure is at left rear of engine,(remove dog house to access). Fuel pump is in fuel tank.Use AC Delco only, there is a updated wire harness conector for these.

Fuel presure dodge diesel ?

all i can tell you is that as long as you dont go below 4 psi you should not starve injection pump, this is a minimum psi though., 10-13 psi is average on my 2002 at service port.
