Hello,
The location of the thermostat for most vehicle.

Stand in front of the car with the hood open, you'll see a black hose hooked to the upper side of the
radiator.( about 2 inch in diameter, newer vehicles about 1 and 1/2 inch, and newer small cars
about 1 and 1/4 inch. ) Follow the hose to the other end, it connects to the thermostat housing. The thermostat is inside of the housing.( the hose usually goes to the air intake manifold, but some
housings are on the side or back of the engine. )

I hope this helps you.

Fully overheats after 5 minutes of driving? water is leaking somewhere also

Check your therma stat, it is located at the end of the radiator hose on the engine under the piece the hose attaches to. While running check the hose to see if its hard(under pressure) if so the thermastat is stuck. its only 3 bolts and a hose clamp you have to remove to get to the thermastat. Purchase a new one with a gasket a sealer. then replace it.

Car over heating spitting water out of resivore tank houses hard with pressure could it be the therma stat

yes, or head gasket. Try replacing thermostat first. make sure you refill and bleed the system after replacing. Hondas have to be bled to get air out of coolant passages. there are 1-2 bleed nuts around the various hoses.

Put in a new water pump and thermas stat and the gage still goes to hot

Do you have access to a non contact laser temp gauge?
If so shoot the thermostat housing and see if the gauge is correct.

If the gauge is off from the laser then replace the engine coolant temp sensor,
If the gauge is correct then double check the thermostat installation,is it in backwards? or maybe you got a bad thermostat.

did you flush the entire system when you replaced water pump?

Where the therma stat located?

The thermostat is used to control the flow of engine coolant. When the engine is cold, the thermostat is closed to prevent coolant from circulating and cooling off. As the engine begins to warm up, the thermostat opens to allow the coolant to flow through the radiator and maintain the engine at its normal operating temperature. Fuel economy and engine durability are increased when the engine is operated at normal operating temperature.

Need a diagram so I can find where the thermostat is on a 1994 grand prix , to change it

Don't Think you'll need a Diagram, Just Open Hood and Locate Upper Radiator Hose and Just take your hand follow the hose down to Your Engine,You'll Come to a Metal Dome with a Hose Clamp and you'll see 2 Bolt Heads .Remove Upper Hose From the E ngine and Then The Thermasat Housing with Those 2 Bolts.Under the Housing is where your Therma Stats Located..

Overheating boiling over, cant find therm stat location on discovery model

Find where the Upper Radiator hose connects to the block. That is usually where you find the Thermastat. 2 to 3 bolts hold the cover in place. You need new Therma stat, a new seal, and the tools to remove and install the part.
