My oil light came on in my 1996 Honda accord 5 speed and I checked the level. It was low so I put about a quart in to get it to the right level. I drove for a little while and it flickered back on. Once I gave it gas it started flashing on and off.. I think it bar something to do with my oil pump. Does that sound like something I should worry about?

Is your oil level good, did you check it again??
Your oil pump circulates oil through out the engine while it's running. If it fails, your destroy the engine. This may only take minutes. You should get an external oil pressure gauge hooked up to it to see if the oil pressure is good. Any good shop or garage should be able to do this.

Why is it leaking oil from oil filter after i did oil change??

Hello,

Not good.

Wrong filter, damaged filter or filter not tight enough.

Double check.

Did you get an oil light on dash (2 quarts low).
The computer may have shut the engine down before engine failure if you are lucky (oil light). If you did not blow your engine (sieze) and you fix the filter problem put some 'lucas' oil in your engine to help with excessive friction caused by low oil level.

I hope this helps.

My Honda Accord Ex 1996 Model automatic transmission is experiencing shortage of engine oil 4 weeks after servicing or changing the oil

How low was it?

Have you seen any leaks on the ground?

Here is what I would do. Fill up the oil so it reads full on the dipstick. Drive it for a couple of days and then check the oil level. If its down a half a quart or more than you have a serious issue and more than likely an external leak. If it is leaking that ba than it should be fairly obvious where the leak is coming from and a visual inspection under the hood and under the car should reveal the source of the leak.

I was low on oil. The warning lights came on and I immediatley pulled over and put a quart in. The light stayed on so I put in another quart. After looking at the dip stick I saw that I must have been...

first I would put in the proper amount of oil, once you are sure the level is full and if the light still comes on, pull the wire from the oil pressure sending unit, the light should go off with key on, if the light goes off then the sensor is bad. replace sensor

I just repaired the transmission getting ready to add oil. I installed a new converter. Will i have to add more than 2.5 quarts of fluid?

yes, it should take about 6 to 7 quarts with a new torque converter-fill it with at least 4 or 5 quarts, start it, put it no drive and reverse numerous times, then check the level at the dip stick while running (on a level surface) and fill accordingly.

How minny quarts of oil dose a 96 olds aurora hold

A typical automobile holds 4-5 quarts of oil.....Depends on the size of motor. If changing yourself, Drain out all oil, change filter, put oil plug back in. Put 3- 31/2 quarts back into car. put oil cap on and start car. Let run for 2-3 minutes then shut back off. Wait for a few. Pull out dipstick wipe, put back in then pull out a second time...Now you know how much you need to top off level.

How many quarts of oil does a Corolla Dx hold at oil change?

4 quarts, 5 with filter change according to the book. Rule of thumb, buy 5 and once you drain and replace the filter, start by putting 3 and a half quarts in and check the level. If it's between the marks start the motor and run for 5 minutes then let it sit for 5 minutes and recheck the level. Top off half a quart at a time till you get the oil level between the full and add marks.

WHERE DO I PUT THE TRANSMISSION OIL INTO ON THE ACCORD 1996adn what grad of oil please for the engine.what is it when yo get light brown oilly substance in the water container at the side of the rad.

put honda brand transmission fluid in the transmission fluid dipstick hole, if this is a 4cylinder, use 2.5 quarts to fill, if 6, use 3 quarts. if you are getting brown oilly substance in the radiator fluid reservoir, this usually means you have a blown head gasket, are you having overheating problems. try draining and filling your radiator with new fluid.

Transmission levels

Automatic or 5 speed?
5 speed manual-with car on level surface, remove oil filler bolt on the side of the transaxle (there is no dipstick). It is located by the right axle at approx. 9 o'clock position when viewed from over the right fender.
some tips-you need to check from under the car, so you will need to raise all four wheels to keep it level and be able to get under it. When the bolt is removed, oil should just barely flow out. If not, fill til it does. Remember that it's engine oil, not gear oil or auto trans fluid. You can pick up a turkey baster at the grocery store for a few $ to fill it if needed. Tighten bolt to 33 ft lbs when done.
Automatic: should be checked after engine reaches operating temp, and it has a dipstick, but it's low on the pass side (as you face the engine standing in front of the car. It's near or beneath the battery . Honda made screw in dipsticks and just the pull out type, can't remember which it is for 92, but it will be obvious when you tug it. Check with the engine OFF. Remove, wipe clean, insert, remove again for level check.
