A code 33 should be fir the MAP (Manifild Absolute Pressure) Sensor. The most common problem is cracked or broken vacumn lines. Check them first. May have to change MAP Sensor which is a simple job

WHAT DOES THE LIGHT CHECK MEANS

If you mean the "Check Engine" light, your car's onboard computer has detected an error in one of the car's systems. When this happens, the Check Engine light illuminates and the computer sets and stores an error (DTC) code that can be read and interpreted by attaching a code scanner. Most larger auto parts stores have these scanners available for use at their location, and many will even read and interpret the code(s) for you (they ARE in the business of selling auto parts, right?) Good luck.

Epc & check engine light on vw touareg, is it timing chain problem

Hi Eric:
If the EPC light or check engine light is on it will show up with a generic OBD2 scanner, I suggest visit some Autozone or Autoshop with OBD Scanner Reader to know exactly what fault code is stored there.

We could give you a better idea what's wrong once you can give me a fault code number.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day

Check engine light flashes and stays on .

You need to get a scanner hooked up to see what error the computer has found. It will give a code. Some auto parts chain stores will do this for free.

Check engine light just came on. Oil ok. could it be caused by a dirty filter?

The check engine light is triggered by trouble codes which means something is wrong with the emmissions systen, transmission, motor sensors etc. A dirty oil filter will not trigger a code. You need to scan the car with an OBDII scanner to get the codes. Once oyu have the codes post them here and we can help you. If you don't have a scanner you can take the car to your local auto parts store, they'll scan for free and give you the codes.

How can i check for error codes?

There is no built in way of checking codes without the use of a scantool.
There are several low priced but very basic scanners available at auto parts stores, ranging from $25-75 for basic scanning..

Many auto parts stores will scan your codes for you free of charge (in hopes of selling parts).
AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, and O'Reilly are 3 stores that offer free check engine light scanning.
