let the spare right down onto the ground and go a bit further. grab the bar that the chain is attached to and after moving it sideways lift one end out of the hole . Drag the spare out from under the vehicle
Hello, this vehicle has a locking device to keep the spare tire from falling down. you will have to perform these steps to remove spare tire.
Turn the folding wrench clockwise to raise the jack until it lifts the secondary latch device under the wheel plate.
Keep raising the jack until the compact spare tire stops moving upward and is held firmly in place. This lets you know that the secondary latch has released.
Lower the jack by turning the folding wrench counterclockwise. Keep lowering the jack until the compact spare tire is resting on the folding wrench
To change the spare you lift up the panel on the floor behind the third
seat,(you need to put the seat down so be careful now), you then take the winch extension and
place it in the access hole in the panel. Now you crank the spare tire
down and you can either roll the vehicle slightly forward if possible or
pull the tire back
Think of the cable as an upside down letter T. The bottom of the T is a piece of metal holding the tire up incase it were to be let down my accident. You need to lift the tire up, taking the pressure off of the metal piece, and slide the little metal piece through the hole in the center of the rim.
There is a compartment inside the rear hatch (sometimes on the driver's side and sometimes on the Passenger side) that you can open and your tire changing equipment and instructions will be in there. (unless someone removed it) The jack handle must be used to "crank" the winch to let down the cable that holds the spare tire in place.
Hello, when you go to let it down can you turn the rod that you are useing to let the tire down? If not then the cable or gear box is rusted solid. That is what usually happens because of the location and lack of use. If it doesn't turn you will have to cut the cable or cradle that holds the tire up. If the rod does turn your spare tire carrier might have a safety catch. The catch can usually be released by putting a jack under the spare tire rim and raising it up. While your doing that turn the rod to crank up the tire. That should release the saftey catch and allow the tire to be lowered down.
there's a plastic cover between the rear bumper and the carpet with a hole in the center wher the rear door hinge goes, remove it and you'll find the spare tire release hex nut.
the way to let the tire down is insert the jack handle in the hole above the license plate at the top left .the turn counter clockwise to let the tire down by means of the cable......hope this helps
I found the secret, The tire is suspended buy a cable on a winch, there is a nut on the right hand side under the carpet when you open the rear hath. You turn that counter clockwise to lower and you turn the support sideways trough the hole in rime of tire.
