Engine stales ontake off. - 1990 Honda Accord

standing for a while could be stale fuel
efi or carby
is it a points or electronic module distributor
could be coil, or plug, leads points

Hi Matt:
There is a good possibility that your PVC valve is not functioning, so when you remove the oil cap. the vacuum line is letting way too much air into the carb/ontake manifold.
My suggestion?
Clean or replace the PVC valve.

this speaks of charging probs..change the starer solenoid...after that..mabe voltage regulator

Dead battery and bad gas,should start but will have bad gas smell, after you got it running add gas and fuel additive, change all fluid, check belt's and hoses. also have brakes checked.Hope this was helpful.

check for engine vacuum leak using GUMOUT carb cleaner,spray around the intake manifold when the engine smoothes out you found the leak

check the spark plugs and the fuel filter. also the intensity of the spark at the gap of the plugs. the spark should be bluish and you can hear a ticking sound. you can locate the fuel filter between the tank and the carburator, usually in the engine compartment.

4-6 or 8 cylinder. The firing order is usually casted into the ontake manifold in raised numbers. Calling Autozone or actually any friendly psrts store will get any info you need. Good Luck

Is the car diesel or petrol?

If a diesel, you might check the diesel pump drive belt (at the right side of engine when looking at the engine from front of car). It's possible the teeth on the belt have stripped and put the pump timing out. An alternative may be a "stop solenoid" failure. The solenoid stops diesel getting to the injectors when the "ignition" is turned off and "stalls" the engine.

I don't know if the injector pump on a petrol engine has a similar setup as a diesel but it might be worth checking.

tork converter locking when its not suposed to try having the codes read might be a sensor in the tranny hope this helps

Your EGR valve may need cleaning. Could be stopped up with carbon.
