Check the 'U' joints in the drive line. Check the engine/transmission mounts for damage or looseness. The real enigma is trying to determine if this is an engine or a chassis problem. If the check engine light is on, doing a scan of the computer should show engine problems. If no light, concentrate on anything in the chassis for periodic binding. Good luck!

96 escort 1.9 manual jerking while accelerating 96 escort 1.9 manual

best advice is dont go 40mph in 5th gear... if you are going up a hill at 40mph in 5th gear i have no doubt that it is jerking, your putting too much stress on the engine. shift up to 4th or 3rd you will be fine. 5th gear is an overdrive gear. 55+mph

I have a 2001 Montero Sport 3.0 2WD. My service engine light came on so I went to Advance Auto for a diagnostics. The diagnostics showed that the shift solenoid was bad, but I cannot find the item anywhere...

the guys who work at advance and autozone are not mechanics, last week they were selling pizza
and the week before that they were delivering newspapers. You need to take your car to a transmission shop sooner rather than later and have its problem diagnosed. Slipping on any transmission is not a good sign and you may well be looking at a rebuild.

2001 montero sport check engine light on..neutral light flashing..doesnt shift right and jerks when you put the shifter in reverse, but does reverse ok, almost feels like it is stuck in 3rd gear..happened...

Your check engine light is on because the computer picked up a problem with the vehicle. Take it to Autozone and they will scan it for free. They will let you know what is wrong and what parts you may need.

2000 Montero Sport shutters/vibrates in 2 and 3 gears

Could be a wheel bearing and/or a rear differential pinion bearing, which usually get worse when under load(going up hill). I would definitely start there.

Jerks going into 3rd Gear

more than likely you will need a valve body rebuild. you are probably looking around $500+. don't let them try to sell you a transmission. you could search ebay and see if you can find a "rebuilt valve body" but make sure it is for a '00 to '02 SL2
