The explorer stalls at idle. it's not running rough and it runs as long as the rpm's are above idle

replace the idle control sensor to get an idle speed above 800
run the fault codes as there may be more wrong that need fixing

Idle air control (IAC) control rpm idle during idle.

Test it on idle with ALL electrical on full force.
RPM should increase.
If RPM remain the same then IAC is question.

Possible Idle air control, simple to change on the throttle body

you have a vacuum problem, I would have the intake gasket checked or you can spray carb/choke cleaner around the intake where it meets the heads and if the rpm of the motor reacts then you have a leak, my explorer was the same way, idle raised and lowered,idled rough, stalled, and my vents acting up. new intake gaskets a month ago and wham runs great. My yukon i did 2 days ago as it had the same actions and yep it runs great now. I'm sure its your intake.

scan it check the egr valve.make sure its not staying open.

Have the alternator tested. You are providing a low charge to the battery when you jump it and when taking it above 2K RPM requires more amperage resulting in the engine dying and the rough idle

check your transmission fluid,the motor will stall when fluid is low

hello first check your idle with the car running foot on brake see were your rpm reading is if your below 500rpm check your label underhood for your curb idle setting second see if theres a adjustment screw you can increase were your gas cable lever rest against your set screw underhood if you feel confident enough remove your iac motor idle air control valve if the bore were the end of the pintle extracts out to close has varnish builup our carbon it will stick creating vacuum leak type senario causing stalling rough idle sometimes even no start conditions good luck
