Sounds like you starter drive is bad ,thats a easy repair, but I hope your flywheel is ok because that is not, you need to pull your starter, and check the teeth and you need to look in there and check your flwheel,if teeth are missing on the flywheel you will have to remove engine or tranns to repair,I hope this helps you and please rate this
Try to turn the engine by hand using a wrench or socket on the nut or bolt that holds the front crankshaft pulley onto the crankshaft. If you cannot, because its locked, then check that you have oil in the engine, if not then its likely that the engine is siezed. Check by looking at the engine that there isnt a con rod sticking out of the side of the engine. Either way its not a good sign for the engoine

could be! can be cracked,could have damaged drive gear tooth on it! could be starter that became loose also! inspect it asap before damaging new starter or fly wheel!
