Won't start how ? When your the key to the start position what happens ? The engine spins but won't start an run . this a crank no start condition . If nothing happens when you turn the key to start ,this is a no crank no start condition . Need to be clear on this so we know what to have check . If nothing happens when turning the key to start position ,try moving gear selector to neutral - park neutral safety switch . If when you turn the key to start an the engine does spin but doesn't start an run ,check for spark ,fuel pressure . see what's missing .
Too early I think to have the automatic collision shutdown system. These can be troublesome Had a car that wouldn't start after the lady slammed the boot shut.
Are you using the original ignition key supplied by Ford and not a cut copy ?
Sounds like the battery might not have enough power to start engine. Even though, the radio might play and the lights may come on does not mean there is enough power to start engine. Try charging or jump starting it. These are simple tests to see if it is the battery. If the car starts after charging or jump starting, it was most likely the battery. Just let the car run for ten or so minutes before shutting off to charge the battery. Hope this helps
okay try this....talk to your parts store and get a battery load tester, and find out if the battery is indeed dead. My guess is it sounds like the Altenator is dying. they are around 50-100 and can be install by a pro in minutes.
I got similar problem, intermittant, but not even the click. Seems to happen in hot weather, but did it yesterday when it was cooler out. Battery, Alternator, and Starter all tested sat. Starter test showed a slight delay. Will jump start, but only with my Ranger. Tried other vehicles for a jump start, but they can't seem to do it. I have replaced the battery terminals. The only things not checked are the wires to the starter, and the ignition itself. The early Focus are known to have keyswitch issues, so that is a possibility too.
