The d is for drive, the number is for what gear you are using.Driving in 3rd gear all of the time will decrease gas mileage, and increase engine wear, but as long as the engine rpms aren`t too high there is no immediate damage.

I have a 1993 Honda Accord Lx I just got with no manual . Which gear is for driving?

D4 is where you want to spend most of your time as this is the overdrive gear. About the only time you will need to run in D3 is if you are climbing steep grades or, if equipped with a tow kit, pulling a load.

Transmission sounds like its slippping is D4 going out and is it safe to drive in D3

should be safe to drive in d3, you just wont get very good gas mileage on the highway and you'll be running higher rpm at highway speeds

How to Drive Auto Transmition 30 km Speed D3 Or D4

some people will tell you that d3 is for town and d4 for the open road, that is totally wrong.D3 is for engine braking when going down a mountain(saves the engine/gearbox doing too many changes)so leave it in D4 for everyday use.....also saves you fuel..

Do i drive in in d4 or d3

D4 is what you want to drive in unless you are pulling something or have a large load in the vehicle.

When you are in d3, it does not allow the transmission to shift into 4th gear.

I just picked up a 87 honda accord and just want to know what gear i drive it in it has l2 d3 and d4 can you help got me confused

D4 - this gear means that all four automatic gears will be able to work (1,2,3,4)
D3 - Three gears will be able to work (1,2,3)
D2 - Two gears (1,2) - L2 means the same thing
D1 - One (low) gear (1)

For your car, drive it in d4. this means that all forward gears will work, including overdrive (4th gear). It will be fine to leave your car in this gear.
