I have a 94 ford arowstar van that turns over but does not start.The fuel pump seems to work because i can hear it.would a clogged fuel filter keep it from running?

Are they getting gas?... if so bad injectors maybe clogged
If no pressure to fuel rail then clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump

Check for spark. If no spark it can be the cam or crank shaft position sensors. Turn key to on do you hear the fuel pump whine for a second or two. If you hear the pump it could be clogged fuel filter. If you dont hear whine check fuse then check for voltage at fuel pump. If volts at fuel pump then it could be the pump.

i'm not sure what the psi from the pump should be, but it could be that it can't keep up with the quick acceleration since you said it was slow to build pressure. I would start with the cheapest first and change the plugs and air filter see if it improves, before I spent the money on a pump. if it turns out they are the problem it never hurts to have fresh plugs and air filter at least then you know what you have in it

if it cranks then check the starter, if you get nothing, then check the battery. It could be fuel delivery (fuel pump). It could be clogged or just dead. You could also check the fuel filter if it starts and sputters out. If the fuel pump is bad you will not hear it prime up.. Turn your car to ACC (not start) and see if you hear the electric whuzzzzzing sound of the pump activating. this should tell you if it is working or not.

have you changed the fuel filter yet? They do clog up. That or you may have trash in your tank, and the screen is clogged. Hopefully its the fuel filter. The pump screen is located in the tank, and that means dropping the tank. hope this helps

you need to check see if it is getting fuel sounds like a clogged fuel filter and when you pump the fuel peddle you are puttting it clear flood mood which may also be leaking fuel injectors and flooding the cylinders with fuel but most likely is a clogged fuel filter try spraying starter fluid in throttle body and if starts its clogged fuel filter

Pour some gas down the intake manifold and see if it starts to verify this problem. If it starts you may have a bad fuel pump or possibly a bad ground for the body check all your body grounds. But if you're able to ground out the fuel pump and you hear it run you may have a clogged fuel filter. If you can keep the fuel pump running see if it will start if it starts you may have a wiring problem. Remember that computer controls both the positive in the ground going to the fuel pump. CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH GOOD LISTEN FOR FUEL PUMP RUNNING IN GAS TANK WHEN YOU TURN ON THE IGNITION SWITCH.YOU HEAR NO SOUND.SCAN VAN FIRST FOR PCM FAULTS SINCE IT CONTROLS FUEL PUMP IF PCM GOOD.FUEL PUMP IS BAD.IF FUEL PUMP RUNNING REPLACE FUEL FILTER.

Check to see if the fuel pump is kicking in,
when you turn the key on without starting the van you should hear it kick on for about 2 seconds,

It could be...
A clogged fuel filter...
Blown fuse for the pump..or bad pump relay..
No gas
Bad fuel pump
