My antifreeze disappears from the holding tank.

I would like to know where it's going . The car is a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire GT. I put 2 litres in a couple days ago and I had to put another 2 litres in this afternoon July 26th. I would appreciate it if you could tell me where it is going. Thank you.

There are only a couple of places it could be going. One, it could be a blown head gasket (is there white smoke coming out of the tailpipe? Does the oil on the dipstick look like a milkshake?). Two, it could be leaking from the heater core (Does your windshield fog up? Is your carpet wet?).

I have a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire I don't know how much antifreeze put in it they say you can't add water to it so how many gallons of antifreeze do I put in it thank you in advance

If the system is empty, it will usually hold about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 gallons of liquid. You can add water, but you want to make sure it is distilled water. you do not want to use tap water as the minerals will clog up your system causing more expensive future repairs. But you also do not want straight water as the boiling and freezing points are not optimal. Your best bet is to use premixed universal coolant.

Changing fuel filter in 2001 pontiac sunfire gt 2.4 litre and changing plugs

You all really need to get more specific. You've just got a situation here, no question.
The fuel filter is integrated into the fuel pump, inside the fuel tank.
Spark plugs are easy.

Where exactly is the thermostat located on 1999 pontiac sunfire 2.2 litre engine?

It will be at one of the ends of the radiator hoses going into the engine block. You should only have two hoses going into the engine from the radiator; one is a send hose for antifreeze and the other is a return hose. My '96 has a note stamped into the block at the top hose that says something to the effect of "thermostat not here".

Take a close look at yours.

I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT and it is overheating. We have changed the thermostat, water pump and tried flushing the heater core. It didn't work the car is still overheating and when the heat is...

if you have done all you said you have their is only two things left i know of that will cause them to overheat and the first thing is if its the 4 cyl 2.4 litre it is probably the head gasket blown really common on the 2.4 engine. If it the 3.1 litre engine they have two bleeder valves that when you flush the out or they get low on antifreeze they get air in the line and stop the flow of antifreeze getting threw the engine causing them to overheat and possibly damage your engine. Hope this helped out with your overheating problem.

I have a sunfire with a 2.4 litre and would like to know if I can just put a 2.2 litre in with out any issues?

you can put a 2.2 in it but you will have to get the computer and wiring harness for the 2.2 and switch it out. also the transmission for the 2.4 does not fit the 2.2 and vice-versa.

How to remove water pump from 1999 pontiac grand am GT

After you drain coolant remove the larger hose at the bottom of over flow tank and the 2 smaller hoses at the top. remove the 1 bolt holding the overflow tank on and remove tank. Next take serpentine belt. Take the 4 bolts off holding on the water pump pulley and remove pulley. Next remove the 5 bolts holding water pump in. Clean water pump housing of old gasket and clean with alcohol or paint thinner to remove any residue. Use a small amount of RTV sealant along with a new gasket and put in the 5 bolts tightening them by hand. Next tighten the bolt a quarter turn at a time until tight.put on pulley, put in overflow tank and attach bolt and 3 hoses .

I don't know what the symbol means on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire

does it look like a radiator? Low coolant sensor, may be in the overflow tank. Check your coolant levels when cold.
