I just bought a 94 toyota camry. Driver window doesnt work. When pushing on button, you hear the motor running for it but it doesnt go up or down. What do we trouble shoot in it please.

READ ALL OF THIS AS THERE IS A LIST OF TOOLS AND SAFETY PROCAUTIONS YOU SHOULD DEAL WITH AT THE END OF THIS.

Angie, you will have to remove the inside cover of the door, they held on by screws and if there are no screws execept for the arm rest, that means that it is held on by plastic push in's. I will gaurantee you are going to break some of these,it just happens. you willl need a special tool to remove them. I do not suggest just yanking it off, doesnt work. if no tool is avalable a large blade screw drive could be used, but you will break those plastic peices. do it gently or visit a napa store, they might have the tool or at least direct yopu to someone. Once it is loose, the arm rest is usually held on by 2 screw opn the underside of the arm rest remove those screw and keep them with the arm rest.

Next if you have a crank handle for your window, there is a clip behide the handle that keeps it in place. Another special tool is requred to remove this and any automotive store will have one. explain what you are doing and they should know what you are taking about. if you have a power window, it is more complicated and should be done by a pro. if this motor on the assembly is stock, it should be held on by rivits. maybe you can get lucky and find not and bolts. if it is the rivet style, it is hard to do it withour removing the whole window crank assembly, it is more compliated and may require a second person to help remove the glass and then remove the assembly. if you have a drill and a centre punch, you could try getting the mount revits into a open spot, center punch the head of the rivit, and do that to all of them. using your drill with a 1/8 to 1/4 of a inch. I would start with the small one (1/8") and drill a pilot hole into the rivit head. depending on the size if the Rivits shaft you may get away with just the one drill bit. If not, use the 1/4" and carefully drill into the head, the rivit should start to spin and that will tell you that you are very close, repeat on the rest of them.
Now that is done, either the motor fell out or it is still hanging by a rivit, carefully try to pry the motor away from the assembly and you should be able to break the remaining rivit.and the motor should be free. disconnect the wiring harness from the motor and remove it. start the whole process all over again only doing everything bacwards. once the motor is installed and the wiring harness connected, test the window, if it works continue on, if not, it is a electrical problem either at the switch or in the harness itself and the wires are in that rubber accordian looking device. you could try to get that, rubber piece off but, usually you cannot see anything like a broken wire as it willl be a interal break on the inside of the wiring casing. a multi meter of a test light can be used to check for the power flow before the switch, and then after the swtich that controls that window. make sure you are checking the right switch if it is on the main switch control unit (drivers side). if it is the other window there should only be one. (depends on the model).
electrical is very dangerouss as you can do ALOT of damage if you cause a short somewhere after you have re-connected the battery.electrical is very confusing and should be left to a pro, but with electrical, there is no set time, so you might pay for hours of labor, (ouch), could have bought another car after seeing the bill.

Ok I am hoping you read the very top of this as here are some tips and safety ideas.

1) remove the negative battery cable and put it a side away from the post and NOT near the positive.
2) a fire extinguisher is not a bad idea close to you on the ground but not close enough that it is in
the way, arms length is usually good.
3) To remove the door handle,special tools may be required, a door handle clip remover unless it is a long handle then it just slides out when removing the inner panel which requires a special tool for removing panel retainers. near the door handle check and see if there is screw a there holding that part together, it might me a philips, the cross one or a torx which requires a special screwdriver that looks like a star. there are
various sizes, but it should be close to a T15, if that is to small, just go up in size until it fits snuggly into the screw head. You can buy a little set from the dollar stores if you have any near by. Just ask for a Torx bit set, you may have to buy a screwdriver that takes the 1/4" bits. some time you can get a whole kit, just make sure it has the torx bits in it, if not see if they have bits seperatley, that should only cost less than $5.00 approx plus tax.

Yes, it is the regulator. The wire cable that runs the window up and down is broken.

It is most likely a wire that became disconnected at the switch, if neither windows work, it is likely a fuse.

Perhaps a faulty window-motor, or the window switch.
Make sure your battery is good. Usually the problem is the window-switch.

You need to either replace the motor or get a rebuild kit for the head unit. You remove the motor and take out 2 bolts in the head, use a flat blade screwdriver and hammer the pinched areas to get access to the inside gear. its a nylon gear and has 3 nylon runners inside. yours will prob be in pieces that are mixed with thick grease. best to clean all that out. the rebuild kit is pretty cheap or you can just cut a bolt into 3 similar sizes and drop them in the slots. (just remember the slip action the nylon is a safety feature in case you get your head or arm caught in the window as it closes) the metal pieces make it stronger and more dangerous. Put the head back together, pinch the metal tabs, put it all back on. Same solution will work on the door windows as well.
