93 acura integra not holding coolant, leaking out bottom engine.

My integra started overheating during a very hot spell a few weeks ago. problem seemed to subside after adjusting coolant levels to the proper levels. had a new battery put in couple days ago and next day started having leaking problem. (don't think the 2 are related...?)
anyway, think it's water pump but trying to confirm symptoms are accurate first. car
i have to fill up radiator before driving anywhere and when i return home, collant leaks out from bottom of engine until radiator drained (or real close) can't drive it very far at all for fear all will leak out before i can adjust fluid again.
can you please tell me if i need a water pump or are there any fairly easy checks i could do to eliminate a more simple repair? (thermostate...etc...)
thanks,
karen

Got a 1998 Acura Integra 1.8L DOHC. Temperature gauge was bouncing up and down on my way home from market and as I came to a stop gauge went to hot and the car shut off on me. I did hear a couple clunking...

the temp gauge movements was in response to boiling water hitting the sender unit
low coolant level, boiling water, overheated motor, won't start, all adds up to cooked motor

Car overheating

You may have a blown engine head gasket. Check your oil to see if it is milky because water is getting into the oil, and check the water to see if oil is getting into the coolant.
If you have either of these, you may need to have a new head gasket for the engine, and hopefully you do not have a cracked engine head.
This will require a fair bit of work to fix correctly. Your local garage or mechanic may be your next call.
There are some products you can use in the coolant for either of these, but it is only a temporary fix.

93 integra sat for 3 years

1. Charger battery
2. Flush / change all fluids (ie, engine oil, coolant, transmission oil if automatic)
3. Replace brake fluid - complete flush should be carried out once every 12 months
4. Check tyre of flat spots from sitting in one position for so long
5. You may also need to replace all filters - air, fuel and oil off course
6. When running (if it starts), run with the heater on hot to flush the heater core.
7. Go to the owners manual and find the service section and perform a FULL service, check off items not noted above.

Car overheated and lost all power. how do I get it to start?

ENGINE NOT GOING TO START IF GET TOO HOT FIRST THING I WOULD REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP THEN ADD COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL CORRECT THATS WHEN THERMOSTAT OPEN UP AND TOP HOSE HOT.CHECK FOR LEAKING RADIATOR HOSES CHECK TOP RADIATOR HOSE CHECK BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE.CHECK FOR LEAKS AROUND THE RADIATOR LOOK DOWN BELOW COOLANTS FANS CHECK FOR LEAKS AT RADIATOR CORES OR LEAKS AT THE RADIATOR PLASTIC SIDE CONTAINERS. CHECK FOR LEAKS AT WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE AND CHECK FOR LEAKS AT THE HEATER HOSES AROUND ENGINE BLOCK TO THE HEATER CORE HOSES. THERE IS A REASON CAR OVERHEAT.IF CAR OVERHEAT WHILE DRIVING YOU HAVE FAULTY THERMOSTAT OR LEAKING OUT COOLANT OR BLOWN HEAD GASKET.IF ENGINE OVER HEAT WHILE SITTING DURING A LONG IDLING PERIOD.YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR FAULTY COOLING FAN FUSE OR RELAY.HOT WIRE COOLANT TO SEE IF IT RUNS IF NO REPLACE FAN MOTOR. IF YES FAN MOTOR COULD HAVE FAULTY WIRE OR PCM FAILURE. CHECK ENGINE CRANKCASE IF OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE ENGINE HEAD GASKET LEAKING.

I have an Acura Integra Special Edition, 2000, and the engine light came on a couple of days ago. Sometimes the car is hard to start, it takes a bit to turn over. Today I got a full tank of gas and then at...

White smoke is not good. If it was coming from the exhaust that is a symptom of a head gasket leak. Engine overheating is the most common cause of head gasket failure so if it has overheated recently, a head gasket is more likely. Verify adequate coolant level and normal water temperature until it can be checked by a mechanic.

Strange Coolant leak

this most likely means that you have a leak in a hose somewhere between your engine and the radiator, when you open up the rad cap it lets the leak breath causing it to gush out, go to napa and buy a replacement radiator hose it shouldn't cost but a few dollars and that should fix your problem.

My sunroof is leaking badly

AH! I had this problem. The drain spouts are in the rear of the car. When you open the hatchback, there's the panels, where the helper light is, you have to take this off to access the drain thing. It comes undone a lot in these cars.

Why is my 1994 Chevy S10 Blazer lugging? motor shakes and lugs.

Could be vacuum leak or bad ignition wire(s).

I had a similar problem on my "93 Ford probe. The engine idled pretty rough with shakes, Turned out to be a head gasket leaking engine coolant into the cylinder during low rpm's. At fast rpm's it was fine becuase the internal cylinder pressure was greater than the hot coolant pressure & would prevent the coolant from leaking in.

A friend has the same problem with his "94 Blazer 4.3 L, throttle body injection, manual tranny. He hasn't fixed it yet, It started a few weeks ago & is getting worse. His gets a fast idle with hiccups which causes the engine shake. He already checked the EGR valve. He also has a severe exhaust problem, Not oilly but very gray & terrible smelly, but only when the fast idle problem happens. THis fast idle hiccup problem starts when the engine is warmed up.
