How do I get the old glove box key lock out of the latch mechanism of a 2002 Pontiac Montana so I can install it in the New latch

If you want to remove the core you need to have the proper key for the lock. At the rear of the lock you'll find an E clip with a washer under it that holds the core in place, remove the clip and the washer, then insert your key and slowly pull out the key and the core will come with it. Do the same on the other lock, then just insert the old core into the new lock, hold the core in the lock with a finger making sure it doesn't come out while you pull the key out, then replace the washer and E clip, and you're done. Both locks have to exactly the same or it will not work. Make sure you hold the core so the wafers of the lock don't fall out, if they do you'll have a nightmare getting them back in, if you don't know how!

How can I get into my 2002 Cadillac DeVille's glove box. It appears to be locked and I don't have the master key, just the valet key.

If you're having trouble accessing your 2002 Cadillac DeVille's glove box because it seems to be locked and you only have the valet key, here are a few steps you can try:
  1. Check for a Separate Valet Key Slot:
    • Some vehicles have a separate valet key slot inside the glove box. Insert the valet key into this slot, turn it, and see if it unlocks the glove box.
  2. Inspect for a Release Button:
    • Examine the perimeter of the glove box for a hidden release button. Some glove boxes have a button or latch that may not be immediately visible.
  3. Use the Main Ignition Key:
    • Even if you primarily use the valet key, try using the main ignition key to unlock the glove box. Sometimes, the valet key may not have the same features as the main key.
  4. Check the Owner's Manual:
    • Refer to the vehicle's owner's manual for specific instructions on unlocking the glove box. It may provide information on alternate methods or features specific to your Cadillac DeVille.
  5. Contact the Dealership:
    • If none of the above steps work, consider contacting your Cadillac dealership. They may be able to provide guidance on unlocking the glove box or assist with obtaining a replacement key.
  6. Professional Locksmith:
    • If all else fails, you may need to consult a professional locksmith. They have tools and expertise to help unlock car compartments, including glove boxes.
Remember to avoid using excessive force as it may damage the glove box. Additionally, make sure you have proof of ownership and identification when seeking assistance from the dealership or a locksmith. If your vehicle has an electronic locking mechanism, it's essential to rule out any electrical issues or malfunctions as well.

How to fix a broken glove box on 2011 Toyota Venza ?

Fixing a broken glove box on a 2011 Toyota Venza may vary depending on the specific issue with the glove box. However, here are some general steps you can try:
  1. Determine the issue: Inspect the glove box to identify the problem. Common issues with glove boxes include broken hinges, latches, or handles. Once you have identified the issue, you can proceed with the appropriate repair.
  2. Replace the hinges: If the hinges are the problem, you can replace them by removing the old hinges with a screwdriver and installing the new ones.
  3. Fix the latch: If the latch is broken, you may need to replace it. Remove the old latch using a screwdriver and install the new one.
  4. Replace the handle: If the handle is broken, you can remove the old handle and install a new one. This usually requires removing the trim panel to access the handle mechanism.
  5. Check for loose screws: If none of the above steps work, check for any loose screws that may be causing the problem. Tighten any loose screws to see if that fixes the issue.
  6. Seek professional help: If none of these steps work, it may be best to seek the help of a professional mechanic to diagnose and repair the issue.
Remember to be gentle with the glove box during the repair process to avoid causing further damage.

I have heat but only when the switch is on high on 2002 pontiac montana

You have to Replace your blower motor Resistor. Your blower motor fan is on the passenger side, up under your glove box. Pull the fan out and the Resistor is right there on the right hand side. Its a little electrical box very easy to do. You just unplug the old one and plug the new one right in.

Mitsubishi Galant 2000 Glove Box Lock

First off you will need your key to the lock and a 1/8" flat blade screw driver.  Notice that your lock only turns 1/4 rotation, after doing this procedure you will be able to turn the lock an extra 1/4 turn counter clock-wise (when viewed from the front of the latch).

Turn the lock so it is vertical (perpendicular to the latch itself (counter clock-wise)).  Turn the latch around so you can view the back and the lock is to your left.  Above the lock there is a slot that you can put your screw driver into (not the indention in the metal).  You need to insert your screw driver and listen very closely, you should hear your screw driver hitting the metal latch.  Once you push the latch down with your screw driver, turn the lock another 1/4 turn with your key from the front (counter clock-wise looking from the front).

Once the lock has been turn a full 1/2 turn, you should be able to push the lock out from the back of the latch.

To put the lock in the new latch, you have to have your key in the lock.  Put the lock in the latch with the one pesky keep latch facing the handle used to open the glove compartment.  Once the lock is in the new latch, turn clock-wise until you can't anymore (1/2 turn).

You're done my friend!
