You should have the computer scanned at a transmission shop or a dealership. If you get a code P1811, that is the 'max adapt long shift' code. That means that the Electronic Pressure Control solenoid may be going bad. Normal wear and tear on the clutch material can also cause this code. Basically, it means that the transaxle is taking longer than 0.65 seconds to shift, and the computer commands maximum line pressure to avoid burning out the clutches. I have had good success with installing a shift kit on several of these transaxles (4T65e) to remedy this problem with no further issues. Visit
www.transgo.com and look for distributors in your area. The shift kit you need is the SK 4T65e shift kit. The kit comes with very good instructions. It is not a difficult job. If you can drop the pan and change your own fluid, you can install this kit.
I have a pontiac grand prix 2002 when I accelerate above 40mph there is a vibration. When I remove foot from gas the vibration stops.
a problem axle will vibrate worse the faster you go but the vibration will be there up or down so for the moment I will set that aside.
if it is vibrating during acceleration but stops when the accelerator is released, it indicates and engine /transmission management problem
first I would run the fault codes as the problem could be from a faulty cam position sensor
servo/solenoid that has the cam too far advanced for the engine rpms and power setting
next it could be a problem with injector control or fuel flow/ pressure
have the fuel pressure tested at rpms to ensure that the pressure regulator is operational
what you describe occurs from misfiring or the like so go to an accredited service center for a proper diagnosis and quote
back to the axle --it could be a problem wheel bearing failing or needing adjustment so keep that in the back of your mind if nothing shows up in the fault codes or diagnosis from a shop with experience
Gear shift indicator lights flicker on instrument cluster
Sometimes on the shifter its self they use two different items, some use a medal rod and some use a cable like an ebrake. if its a cable one it may have stretched and isn't going back to its actual spot for the instrument lights to work properly. you can tighten that cable.that's all I can think of right now good luck.
I have a po131 code show up on adiagnostic test car starts up but stalls out after a few seconds. its a 2002 pontiac grand prix gt, any advice on this would be great. fuel pump and filter replaced alo
Is the security light lit on the instrument cluster ? Anti-theft system problem ?
DTC P0131
Heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) are used for fuel control and post catalyst monitoring. Each HO2S compares the oxygen content of the surrounding air with the oxygen content of the exhaust stream. When the vehicle is first started the powertrain control module (PCM) operates in an Open Loop mode, ignoring the HO2S signal voltage when calculating the air-to-fuel ratio. The PCM supplies the HO2S with a reference, or bias, voltage of about 450 mV. The HO2S generates a voltage within a range of 0- 1,000 mV that fluctuates above and below bias voltage once in Closed Loop. A high HO2S voltage output indicates a rich fuel mixture. A low HO2S voltage output indicates a lean mixture. Heating elements inside the HO2S minimize the time required for the sensors to reach operating temperature, and to provide an accurate voltage signal. This DTC will set if the HO2S 1 voltage remains below a calibrated amount for an excessive amount of time.
Each HO2S 1 has the following circuits:
• HO2S 1 high signal
• HO2S 1 low reference
• HO2S 1 heater ignition voltage
• HO2S 1 heater low control
• Low reference loop
My security light is on
leave
the key in the ignition, turned to 'run' (just before the crank
position) and leave it there for about 15 minutes-the security light
will then stop flashing-do NOT turn it off, turn it to crank and start
the car.
You have a security module that is not seeing the same resistance in
the ignition switch as it expects, meaning you will have to either
replace the ignition switch (expensive) or bypass the module (easy and
inexpensive)-I have done lots of these, requires about 15 cents worth
of parts and can be done in 1/2 hour.
Abs light and trac off light on
