Swtch must be adjusted so that when in park or neutral it will pass current.

Pass key is the security system which disables the car if it is stolen. You need the remote or a key with a chip to start the car. go to a dealer, prove ownership with registration and they will be able to help you out

SOURCE: i need the location of a neutral safety switch on

I take it that you have an automatic transmission the shift selector /neutral saftey switch switch is located on top of the transmission were the shift cable connects to the trans. Remove the 13 mm nut in the center of the switch and remover the shift cable and lever noting the location of the lever. then remove the bolts holsing the switch to the transmission and the elec connector.

My 2003 Buick century will only start in neutral

Try keeping key turned to start while moving shifting lever back and between reverse and park. If it almost tries to start the problem is probably the neutral safety switch. Even If it does not it still maybe the switch.

HOW DO I LOCATE AND REPLACE A PNP NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH ON A 2001 BUICK CENTURY

On top of the transmission, has a triangle shape. Backup light switch is incorporated into it. Has to be adjusted to Neutral position with transmission in Neutral to get it right. Be careful to chock the tires so the car cannot roll and use the hand brake for added safety.

LOCATE AND REPLACE PNP ON A 2001 BUICK CENTURY

If you're talking about the Park Neutral Safety Switch, it's on the linkage right up against the transmission, driver side under the hood. If you're not talking about the Neutal Safety Switch, then spell out exactly what you want and do not abbreviate.

II can't shift my car out of park

Did you depress brake? Could be a neutral safety switch or your shift linkage is broken.

Replace neutral safty swich

The neutral safety switch only prevents the driver from cranking the engine in gear, and it turns on the backup lights when you are in reverse.
If you are having a problem with the performance of the transmission I doubt it has anything to do with that switch.

Dash indicates transmission is always in Drive. Transmission shifts through all gears but indicator does not change. Vehicle will not start.

You have a electronic Shift indicator switch on your transmission this is also called th NSBU switch. This is what tells your instrument cluster what gear you have selected. This may be your problem. or you may have a loose or bad connection. NSBU stands for neutral safety Back up switch.

My car wont start but all lights and dash come on

Lisa, how long was the key in the one position? For the heck of it, put the car in neutral, and try to start it. It's possible the neutral safety switch is bad, which could cause the problem. It should start in neutral if that's the problem. Let me know if this works, if not, I'll help further.
