At night my headlights come on when remote us turned on. When car turns off via the Viper the highlights stay on and never turn off. My battery runs down. Why front headlights go out and how do I fix

you have daytime running lights,the tail lights only come on when you turn the light switch on,so,turn them on at night,they r not automatic,get a new battery

u seem to hav a computer/module system issue--get a data stream run that shows values so a good tech can decyfer-need factory gear not a 20dollar scanner--stay away from dealers-------1st tho try anothr remote or changn batts--or even disconnect car batt fora minute

the headlights work on a light sensor so they come on automatic at night and are on as daytime running lights durring the day. battery is most likely dead. take to local parts store they will bench test the batt for free to tell you if its toast. I think its time for a new one.

Did u ever figure it out ? Mine are doing same thing only work during the day and shut off when I turn lights on and don't work at night. I've changed all fuses and relays, still doing the same thing. I'm hoping it's not wiring issue

Hi I had this happen last night but both of my headlights were out (one had been for a week but the other also went last night) I assumed it was to tell me there was a fault as it's stopped now I have replaced the headlight bulbs

iTS A FAULTY HEADLIGHT SWITCH

Check that the correct globes are fitted to the main brake lights.

Left of the two headlight buttons for headlights and parking, there is a vertical slider. It's labeled Twilight, meaning twilight sentinel that keeps the headlights on. Move it down and that shortens the on time to about 5 seconds. If you are sittting with the headlights on and want them to go off, push it to the bottom and it turns the lights off immediately. They will turn back on when the car is put into park.

Move the slider to the top and they should stay on for about 5 minutes. BTW if you just leave the headlight switch pushed in (if you're doing it manually) the car turns everything off in about 10 minutes--inside lights, radio, lights, cigarette lighter power (unless you moved the fuse in the underhood fuse block to make them stay on permanently).

You also may not know that if you are driving or sitting and want the headlights off but the parking lights to stay on, push the Parking LIghts button. That turns the headlights off. I didn't find that for a while because our 98 LeSabre didn't have any way to turn off the headlights while cruising through a Christmas display scene in a park where many people turn off the headlights to help the effect of the colored lights. The Toyota Service Bulletin is 059633, dated March 13, 2003. My 2003 Corolla has the same problem. When the lights were on this morning after a very cold night, I jiggled the headlamp switch and sure enough, the headlights turned on and off. I found that the lights can be kept off if the switch is pushed forward and left in the "high beam" position when the car is off and the weather is expected to be cold. This is easier than pulling the fuse every time, until the switch can be replaced. It worked for me. Hope this helps.

My lights have had this problem for months. From time to time I try to fix it, but I have learned the following:

Extra information that I haven't figured out how to use yet:

2. Apparently the DRL bulbs operate through the high-beam bulbs; this is why you get the high-beam light when the DRLs are broken (or whatever) and why you can turn them off with the high-beam switch.

3. My wife took the car out for a fluid change once and said the mechanic pointed at a light on the car and said, "that bulb's out," and that if she fixed it the DRL's would work normally, but she forgot which light it was. He even told her what bulb it needed. I took it to the same place and no one knew what I was talking about.

I don't think about trying to fix this very often since I realized I could turn the lights off with the high-beam switch. I used to worry that that blinker was somehow draining the battery, but it never has (whereas I once drained a brand new battery just by leaving the interior light on all night). I hope I've helped!
