Shift solenoid would be my first thought but you do want to check your transmission fluid and change it every 60,000 miles or what is recommended by the manufacturer

2007 Chevy Monte Carlo LT.

You need a better scanner to diagnose, not just for codes. It sounds like faulty shift solenoids. A professional grade scan tool computer is bi-directional and can command solenoids to operate and verify that they did.

I have a 2008 Pontiac Torrent that lurches when accelerating usually at about 50 mph. Any idea what causes it?

A engine misfire possibly . TCC - Torque Converter Clutch Automatic Transmission Torque Converter Clutch TCC Without testing it or feeling the problem it's hard to say . Check engine light on or flashing ? Suggest you take it by a repair shop and have them take it for a drive with you . Hooking up a scan tool to check misfire counts etc... I have a 2008 chevy equinox to which I actuall love...but recently av been having issues with hesitation at about 40 mph and 60 mph...once I take my foot off accelerator and then reapply foot to...

I wouldn't think the PCM/ECM is the problem , hesitation at about 40 mph and 60 mph.. Something in the ignition system is breaking down causing a misfire or maybe TPS - throttle position sensor , these wouldn't cost to much. The dealer should be able to find the problem . An usually lights Flickering could be loose connection , high resistance in the circuit. Fixing Strange Auto Electrical Problems

My 1995 Subaru Legacy (high miles, over 200,000) lurches forward and back when I try to accelerate from ~65 mph to a higher speed. This appears to coincide with going above 3,000 rpm. The tach also goes up...

You will need a computer to accurately read the signals you are getting from the sensors in the engine bay, but my guess is that the MAF sensor may be acting up.

I think you need transmission fluid serviced with Mercon V from a Mercury dealer. I think the friction shoes in the torque converter are "Chattering" at lock up.

Try driving the car with O/D off and then w/o going into 4th gear. Leave it in 3. See if the vibration is gone.

2004 Audi A4 1.8 - jerks/jolts while accelerating from 0-20 mph

It sounds like there may be an issue with your ignition system.

Check the ignition wires, distributor cap, spark plugs.

My 1994 bmw 325i wont go over 20 mph,.

I would run some engine diagnostic tests to determine if it is an engine problem. Then I would aim to look at the transmission system. This also involves looking into the transmission's computer. You need to take it to a shop that has a scan tool that can scan the transmission control system. A lot of the BMW have advanved logic in the computer and the average shop will not have the tool. You will probably have to take it to a bimmer dealer.

Transmission problems on my 2004 XJ with 34,000 miles

Lurching? You mean kind of jerking when accelerating? Another person had a similar problem. To not be repetitive, this great diagnostic article points out to six possible causes of this problem:
