I have a 2008 chevy equinox to which I actuall love...but recently av been having issues with hesitation at about 40 mph and 60 mph...once I take my foot off accelerator and then reapply foot to accelerator the hesitation stops. Took it to 2 shops and they found nothing wrong, nothing showed on " monitor" and spark plugs are fine. Today my car was dead. Jumped without any issue but the lights are going haywire. Flickering constantly.... Going back to dealer tomorrow, but any ideas of what's wrong. Keeping hearing ECM thrown in mix by mechanic... Sounds expensive ??? w

I wouldn't think the PCM/ECM is the problem , hesitation at about 40 mph and 60 mph.. Something in the ignition system is breaking down causing a misfire or maybe TPS - throttle position sensor , these wouldn't cost to much. The dealer should be able to find the problem . An usually lights Flickering could be loose connection , high resistance in the circuit. Fixing Strange Auto Electrical Problems

It cold be both the fuel pump or crankshaft sensor will cause this problem. A shop should be able to use a scope and check the square wave pattern on the sensor to determine if it is good or not.

The evaporation canister can cause this, so would any vacuum leak. A faulty throttle position sensor or camshaft position sensor would also cause this but it would in the diagnostics most likely.

Have you replaced the timing belt? if not i would highly recommend doing so. these cars need to have the timing belt replaced before it breaks otherwise it can and will cause major engine damage.

2004 chevy malibu 2.2 driving 60 mph shut down

either you have a fuel pump that went out, or your fuel pump relay went. These fuel pumps last around 100,000 miles, so if you're way under that, it's more than likely the relay, if you're close to that, it could be either.
