2009 Toyota RAV4 rear seat headrests

Remove headrest, there is a small button on the base of the headrest mount you need to push in. Next pull up the strap at the front of the seat cushion bottom, then flip forward. Press in the flipper on the top of the seat back and pull forward.

should have handles on the side of the rear seats facing the outside wall of the car, just like in the font

There is a button you need to press at the bottom of one of the headrest rods (it is actually part of the main seat), but it is located right where the rods of the headrest enter.

replace the whole seat.

Yes if you lift the headrest upwards it will raise and you may be able to lift it out, you may need to press a button on the seat top to do so.

PLEASE,do not bent it backwards,they are head restraints,NOT headrests,in case of a rear ender.have only done one rav 4 and to bend then takes A LOT OF PRESSURE.......a dealer will not accomodate you or face losing the franchise.....(i sent a client to an independant bodyshop to get hers done)

Raise rear seats, you will see your fuel tank with two caps, you will find the wires there

I moved one of the headrests from the back to the driver's seat. Had to open the legs a little bit but it fit.
Something else I found is that if one adjusts the seat so that it cradles one's body, thus maximizing contact between the body and the seat, and then puts the headrest back on it does not pushes one's head forward. Seems they designed it to be driven as if one was sitting on a recliner.
Although one can drive comfortably in that position, the headrest is massive and blocks the view over one's right shoulder.

You can't remove the front headrests from 2009 or later BMW's without first disconnecting internal wiring that runs inside 1 of the posts for each headrest to the inside the seat. This wiring is part of the Active Restraint Safety System that was new for 2009.

If you force it and break the wire you will at a minimum need to spend about $300 at the dealer to resplice the wire by taking the back off the seat.

You can pry them back and they should tilt. Otherwise pull up real hard and they will come out.
