Trying to remove headrest from seats of a 1999 mustang. We cannot see any type of button to release them, and they do not pull out either. Anyone know how this is done?
I didn't see any pin hole at the base of the headrest. I looked on the front and back.I didn't see any pin hole at the base of the headrest. I looked on the front and back.
Got the headrest off but now don't know what type of screw driver/tool to use on the seatbelt bracket to remove it. Looks like an allen wrench but wasn't sure

Hi Kathryn, I'm glad to help! CAUTION: If you have "ACTIVE HEADREST" you will want to unhook the negative battery cable. NOTE: You'll also need to take the back of the seat cover off and unplug the connector going to the active headrest. Then simply push the release button on the side of the headrest and pull it upward and out of the seat. "HOWEVER" If you do not have the active headrest, then simply push the release and pull upward out of the seat. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Kathryn.
loosen up the cover to the seat and reach into the actual seat from underneath, there should be 2 latches. The closest one at the bottom of the headrest system locks the headrest at the upmost position. If you lift up that latch (as in pull it away from the headrest) the headrest should be easy to just push the rest of the way...
what is a hardest? if you meant headrest, then you pull up on the headrest to access the button on the lower part of the headrest. the button releases the headrest from the seat.
On the part that you squeeze to raise the head rest is a little hole on the inside between the 2 bars. You need to push a paper clip or something like that in the hole to release the stop and keep pushing as you lift. Once that is done then you can pull the rest out.
With the headrest about half way up insert a flat bar between the headrest bar and the opening where it goes in the seat. (back side of head rest) and pull up. It should come right out. I used a paint stir stick when I changed my seat belt loops.
Hope this helps.
If you unscrew the black pieces around the posts, lift them up and pull back gently on the seat material. There are 2 wire clamps around each post. Simply use a flathead screw driver and stretch the clamp to release the headrest.
There should be a button on the base of the headrest to raise & lower it. Push the button, and lower it. With the button pushed, raise the headrest, and pull hard. They ARE tight.
