2001 chevy blazer not shifting right

My 2001 chevy blazer will not shift untill high rpms or sometimes you have to let off the gas in order for it to shift into the next gear it's a 4.3 and shifts into 1st and reverse just fine when it shifts it is nice and smooth but seems to shift whenever it feels like it. Any advice?

trans shifts fine to rev. 1st and 2nd shift smooth but will not go in 3rd sometimes if i build rpms up and let off gas it will go into 3rd but not 4th

Check the oil if you haven't already. If that makes no difference, change the tranny oil and filter. It can make a world of difference. Another thing it could be is your fuel filter. The engine is starving for gas, and can't shift properly.

Not sure if that model year has a vacume modulator on the side of the transmission or not. If so it may be bad or the hose going to it is old and cracked and split. Otherwise it is governor controlled inside the valve body. Try a bottle of lucas transmission fluid conditioner. Its good stuff!

No not the whole transmission. Could be a band or servo. It still has to come out and be tore down to fix.

You can try to reset it anyway. Unplug the battery and put it back on. It might work.

Transmission shifts after i reach 3000-4000rpms and let off the gas

A transmission service may solve this,check the trans fluid it should be ruby red and clear anything else and it needs to be changed along with the trans filter.

Idoling at 1500 to 2000 rpms and shifting at 3500 to 4000 rpms

Check your manifold vacuum. The 4.3L are notorious for loosing manifold vacuum and leaking just beneath the AC unit. Use a vacuum gauge to see how much vacuum you have at the manifold. Low vacuum can cause high idle conditions.
