if it is auto matic your tansmision is slipping check fluid and add when at operating temp with engine running, If standard trany then your clutch is slipping and needs adjusted or replaced.

Its a 5sp manual. only manuals have 5th.
your RPM is wrong, it has 1 extra zero.
correcting that (the dial shows x1000) so
3.2 is 3200 (3.2x1000=
this is normal stock car, , its not a V8. or a diesel, at all.

here are the facts, RPM ,total ratio , etc

see the table for 3000 RPM?
our car goes exactly 59mph
or 94.951296 km/hour.

a perfect match. if Evvah

I have a 2006 Kia sorento had an oil change a couple days ago but now the car is revving highly and has problems shifting in 3rd gear and pass what could be wrong

Its reving high, like pressing on the fuel, and the RPM just shoots high, you are describing a sliupping transmission. Kia has problems with shift hesistation dealing with the TPS, get that troubleshooted first if its not the TPS you are dealing with a VSS(vehicle speed sensor ) if both component are not at fault the solution is another transmission or rebuilt

Torque converter is probraly going bad, the automatic gear selector having trouble seeking or going into another gear unless high rpm to select it out to another gear. Could also be your 1gear is getting bad. you may need to take it to the shop as in the long term, it can damage more. You could check to see if fluid is up to level too, as this does happen when it's low in transmission fluid.

Must foot be on brake when shifting gears in automatic trans

The damage potential is with accidental shifts out of PARK, such as with kids playing around or the accidental shift by an otherwise occupied driver. To prevent accidental shifting out of PARK, car makers years ago started installing the safety interlock which requires a foot on the brake pedal before shifting out of PARK and putting the car in motion. No damage potential in shifting between other gears, as long as the vehicle is stopped. I hope that this answers your question and wins the debate for you.

2005 Mazda6 tranny ****

1. some mazdas had a PCM/TCM update to resolve 1st to 2nd shift shock. the only one who can update the is the dealer. maybe covered under 5 year 100,000kms powertrain warranty.

2, have you ever had the transmission fluid replaced? it could be dirty, burnt, etc.
if it was replaced, maybe it was replace with fluid other than M5 fluid. different fluids have different properties (thickness etc) which could cause serious problems if left.

I would recommend taking it to the dealer for the update and a transmission flush (not a drain and fill) using a flush machine.
