It may be a turn in caliper and if all else fails crack the bleeder screw and if it does not press in you may need a new caliper or rebuild that one.good luck

I changed the RT rear calibure on my 2004 Dodge 2500. No fluid came out of the line when I took it off but fluid did come out of the calibure. When I replaced the the calibure and line I did not tighten...

You won't have pressure unless the brake is being applied when you crack the bleeder. If you have all the air out of the system and a firm pedal, you are ok.

I cant seem to get the rear brake caliper to compress so it will fit over the new pads

There are two stlyes of calipers for the rears. One is ratcheting so the piston has to be turned back to colaspe. The other type compresses with a C clamp. If a large retaining spring is on the inner part of the caliper you have the ratcheting type. A brake cable will attach to the spring as well. If not it will compress instead

yes, you need a piston retract tool for the rear cylinders. rear piston must turn clockwise as it is being retracting.

Unable to compress rear brake caliper is this caliper shot?

There is a tool that you can buy or rent at the parts house that you can connect to a hand tool EG: 3/8 rachet to use with a tool to compress the caliper while you turn the rachet. You will see some raised teeth on the calliper piston for the tool to bite on. Since the rear brake is used to lock the parking brake it has to have a self adjust to compensate for the brake pad wear. EG: Old school drum brakes adjust when you back up depressing the brakes and letting off while the vehicle is rolling allows for the adjuster to reset the brake shoe clearance.

Unable to compress caliper piston to replace brake pads

If the problem is with the front caliper replace it. If the problem is with the rear caliper you need a tool that will compress the piston back into the caliper by turning it. Most auto parts stores will have a caliper tool for this.

Replacing rear disk brake pads

No, a large metal "C" clamp works well, make sure the master cylinder doesn't overflow when you compress the cylinders back into the caliper.

have you replace the caliper? if you did then when you stop loose the bleder of the caliper and if pressure come out tie the bleeder again and haved your mechanic remove the brake master cylinder and see if there is any adjustment for the push rod or shaft behinf the master cilinder and loose the adjustment to make it short but if there is no adjustment then leave the master little loose and if this take care of it you might have a wrong master installed or just need to adjust the rod behind master good luck
