I have a 1993 Suzuki Sidekick 1.6 MFI with 16 valve. How do I know if I have a California or a Federal engine. I get code 53. I changed engines and I have a NEW Fed Manual trans 4 dr PCM. It will not rung above 1000 rpm, runs rich. Seems like erratic fuel and injector timing. This is the same thing the old engine did. Used engine came with all sensors, injectores and dist. I have changed coil, power transistor and check all power and grounds leads. I have a simulator for the MAF and can introduce anywhere from .050 to 5.0 volts to the PCM to sim airflow. Help

NO, the engine is an overhead camshaft the rocker arms ride directly on the camshaft so their is no need for a lifter, by the way the valve lash should be .003-.005 of an inch.
if you have a SOHC engine 92 stealth from California the number will be ;MD153355
